Decent Hotel
Friendly staff and decent rooms
Pretty standard hotel for the area. It was probably a sweet little joint back in the day, but it's definitely looking a bit dated now. Overall, very clean and decent food. Karaoke bar at night! Nice place for the price. Not too far from the nightlife by the river.

A little worn, but charming still
Staff are so nice and helpful
this is the third ramayana group hotel i've stayed in. it's got the beautiful artwork that the others have, and the rooms are comfortable and well kept. still, this one is a bit tired and could use some sprucing up. it's not as nice as the ramayana boutique in luang prabang, but it's still a comfortable enough choice. the staff however treated me very kindly and were extremely helpful in my efforts to mail things back to the us.

Average hotel for the budget
Cheap
Too many musquitos, however, they are too fat to bite you. This hotel is little far away from the mekong river, which is district for foreigner. There are two parking lot, one for the motorcycle, which has security guard, and another one for the cars. Bad breakfast buffet, you have to be as creative as Shakespeare to even eat more than 15 minutes, because option is too limited. Shower booth was bad too, toilet was unique but water is too cold, they should switch the sink and shower head. Because sink only gives hot water and shower had only gives really cool water. It reminds me the life back in Alaska.

Lovely hotel but a bit distant
Great staff and nice rooms
This hotel has nice staff who provide a very Laosian level of service - all smiles! The hotel is large and has a good buffet breakfast, with some nice on-site facilities. However the rooms are a touch dated and the main problem is the location. It is near the Vientiane version of the Arc de Triumphe - a major tourist destination. However the main centre and almost all the other sites and infrastructure are a fair walk away.

Grand hotel at bargain rates
Large rooms, hot water, swimming pool
A former grand hotel that still maintains some of the old world charm. It has large, bright, clean rooms. The staff is helpful and has limtied English. The pool is particularly inviting but has limitations. The water is cold and it appears to have no circulation/filter system, but the water appears clean. The sun in the pool area is gone by three o'clock in the afternoon.

needs major updating but rooms quite reasonable
nice view from hotel windows, convenient location
Just has that sad aging feeling to it across the board, but this is Laos so need to lower expectations? Staff was friendly enough and the location is fairly convenient, within walking distance to the outdoor market and the Mekong waterfront. Don't have enough experience with Vientiane to have basis for comparison with other hotels.

Nice if a little bit faded hotel
Big rooms, friendly service, location, spa
ramayana is a nice hotel, staff and reception will make you feel welcome from the moment you step in. it's a little bit faded in places, but makes up for it at every step. breakfast isn't as comprehensive as in other boutique hotels. the downstairs spa is highly recommended for a relaxing massage.

a hotel with a socialistic flair
location, confortable rooms
Ramayana is more a gallery than a hotel. Nicely decorated, with big confortable rooms, enjoying a perfect location on the main bulevard of Vientiane, very close to Patu Xai monument. It is an old hotel, which needs a lift and most of all needs a good manager. It is the most dirty hotel I have seen in my past 10 holidays. And more dirty than the hotel is the restaurant. The breakfast at 9:30 was a complete disaster. All the table cloths were dirty, the food was cold, there were 2 pieces of ham left and no butter. If you don't mind the dirt, you will have the chance to admire the pieces of art all over the hotel. The staff was also excellent. Especially the reception.
