The staff requested a huge amount of tip

room, correspondence, breakfast
The hotel is very far from Jama el funa and it's impossible to reach alone. The staff kindly took me to my next hotel, but he requested 220 DH (including the last night's dinner of small tazine). At first, he requested me to exchange Czech currency into DH- I don't know the value, so I rejected. Secoundly, he requested 2000DH for a small tazine which he provided me last night- he said it's joking, but not funny at all. Finally, after we reach my next hotel, I provided him with 20 DH as tip, but he said "200 DH". I paid without saying anthing, then he said "100DH for last night's tazine, 100 DH for my tip, 20 DH should be paid an old man who taught the place of the hotel." The hotel itself was nice, but I NEVER recommend to stay Riad Abbassia.

An oasis of peace in a vibrant city

Customer service: Tierry (owner) and Abdul went the extra mile and more to help and advise,Tranquility: a haven in a manic city, Comfort: great rooms.
As Above Thierry the owner and his staff were hugely helpful and made the stay a real treat, great local knowledge and advice on highlights and functional info such as the best place to change money. It would be very useful to contact the riad prior to arriving as with everywhere in Marrakesh its not easy to find the first time! There are signs on the walls (painted on)at Bab Leyadi (the door at the north side) which is where you should ask the taxi to drop you. Do NOT drive in Marrakesh; apart from the high stress levels it would be quicker walking anyway! Take a trip into the Altas mountains (can be arranged through the riad and the local market day is amazing for immersion into the culture of Morocco.
