wonderful relaxation on the way to Pokhara

the swimming pool, surrounding nature, good food
we've stopped for lunch at the Riverside Springs Resort (RSR) in Kurintar several times in 2012 and 2014 when travelling to Pokhara with Greenline. as the exhausting, hot and rocky bus trip from Kathmandu to Pokhara takes at least 7 hours, this time we decided to cut the ride into half and do it in 2 days. RSR is located half-way, so it is perfect for such a stop-over. the absolutely best thing about RSR is the swimming pool - it's beautiful, spacious, cool, and clean. the views are great, you can admire the hills as well as the river at the same time. the food is very nice, too, we had both lunch and dinner. i especially loved the indian style breakfast with aloo (potato) parathas, local curd & chutney. there are also other breakfast options available. food and drinks are reasonably priced. during our stay, we visited the famous Manakamana temple in Gorkha. we ordered a jeep transportation to the Manakamana cable car from the hotel, and it all worked out nicely. the views were stunning! the rooms are not fancy but they are nevertheless okay. we stayed in bungaloos (numbers 6 and 8). the cabins up the hill looked very nice, too. hot water and light was available all the time despite the usual electrity cuts. beds were a bit rough but we liked the japanese style. if you worry about insects, just take your mosquito net with you and you can sleep in peace. contrary to some previous reviews, we found that the staff was really nice and friendly, and most of them spoke very good English.
