Paradise in Chiang Mei

Our stay was excellent, we were picked up from the airport, brought to our beautiful lodges and were provided everything we needed to be comfortable. The breakfast was delicious, omelette, coffee toast, and the dinners were also very good. At least as good as the restaurants we tried in the area. Our hosts were very friendly and very accommodating. The resort is located outside the downtown core and is quiet and relaxing, so much so that we often felt like staying at our lodge ans sitting on the porch overlooking the lush grounds instead of going into the city. You need to take the bus or cab to get to the city center, and this is easy and inexpensive. The staff felt more like friends as we were leaving, and we all wished we could have stayed longer. A month in this place would be amazing!

I was there with my family from the 15th of February till the 19th of February 2015 and I can only write nice things about this place! The owner is really nice, always willing to help you to organize anything you may need at the most reasonable prices, the place has a wonderful garden in which you can relax after a day in the crowed Chiang Mai. The place is about 10km from the center of the town, but there are plenty of buses passing every 5 minutes that bring you to town for 8 baht/person. The food is really good. I can only recommend it!

Home away from home

Lovely and helpful staff, beautiful resort, great breakfast

My stay at this beautiful resort was the best thing that could happen to me. Tim is a wonderful host, she was always there and she would always help me when I needed something. I am very thankful for all the help, support and tips I got from her. The atmosphere in general in this resort is great. Everyone is nice and friendly, you just feel relaxed and happy staying there. The rooms are clean, the food is great, and you can even get a Thai massage, that actually really helps your well being. It is a bit far off the city, but that is what makes it so special! You an easily get to the city with the yellow buses. All in all this was the perfect place, just make sure to stay for more than just one night, because it is really worth it.

Hard to find paradise

Just finished 3 nights at the resort. Getting there can be a little iffy since none of the locals know where it is but once you get there it is well worth the hassle. Just a hint, yellow songthaews head right by the resort. They leave from Morowot market and cost about 20 baht. They only run from about 6am - 4pm. You take a short walk through a neighborhood and enter the resort down a tree lined gravel road leading to bliss. Tim the owner is awesome and an AMAZING cook. It's the little things that make this place great, being greeted with fresh coconuts, mosquito repellent incense being lit for you, fresh towels daily without being asked for, etc. The staff are all very friendly and helpful. One man gave me a quick lessen on the semi auto scooter which we took for a drive through the countryside. Only cost 150 baht. After a long night at the sunday market we braved a tuk tuk ride (unfortunately for the driver) back to the resort. Exhausted, we walked back down the gravel road to be greeted by 5 adorable puppies! Long story short, if you are looking for a beautiful getaway out of the city without all the frills at a great price, then stay here.

My stay was incredible. Everybody at the resort was super friendly. I have met some lifelong friends and had the greatest time. Tim is incredible, she helped me anyway she could. The food she makes is authentic and super tasty. If I could come back tomorrow I would. Thanks :)

Perfect for relaxation!

The food was excellent. The resort was extremely relaxing especially with the massage at your door step. The owner is wonderful. She is like a mom away from home.

Superb chilled out atmosphere away from changmai

Authentic comfortable accomodation, amazing home cooked food, beautiful tended gardens

Just perfect after 5 nights in the heart of changmai to be out of it and just chill. Owner is fantastic nothing is too much trouble and they make you feel like part of the family as soon as you arrive. Please note that only one of their bungalows is private if you are a couple, the others have 2 bedrooms and so you will share with someone else.

Great food, inconvient location, bad karaoke noise

The food was great, the staff were very nice, accomodating.

Our favorite part of Romyen Garden was the food. It was some of the best we had in Thailand. If you go, eat in as much as possible. This is either easy or difficult to do because of the location. They are in an very inconvenient location, up to 40min out of town, and away from most of the attractions which are on the West side of Chiang Mai. We spent way too much time commuting, and rides to town were usually over $10 each way. Even renting our own motorbike we spent hours and hours in traffic commuting. This wouldn't be much of a problem if it was more of a resort and we could have comfortably relaxed there. A couple of the rooms have porches and places to relax, but many don't. We stayed in the three different rooms, the Superior Double had no place to sit outside and the water was lukewarm. The twin rooms were just a concrete dorm and not worth the price. However the last night they put us in Bungalow 4 and it was comfortable, and had a porch that we could rest on during the day. They charge the same for most rooms, so if you go, it's mainly worth staying in the double bungalows and the family house. Another difficulty we encountered was noise. There was a karaoke going all evening and late into the night every night we were there. It was very loud, and the singing was some of the worst off key crooning I've ever heard. Even with earplugs we couldn't sleep until it stopped around 1AM or so. Other guests had the same problem. This might not be a year long karaoke, but it made it very unpleasant to try and sleep. The staff were great and accommodating, but for the price of the room, the location and the noise for us it wasn't worth the cost and time spent commuting to stay here. However I would go back for their amazing deep fried fish with ginger and their tasty green curry.
