Our first time travelling to Chiang Mai- Thailand
Nice garden, friendly attitude, fresh air
I liked this resort because of peacefull garden , the road leading to the resort, the sound of life when I woke up in the morning...One more thing is the owner's hospitality. She is so kind to give usefull information for us to make our trip more interesting. Thanks her for all what she did for our first trip to Chiang Mai more exciting.

Fabulous! Relaxing! Escape! Solitude! Pyramid!
Peaceful! (they have a Pyramid for meditation!) The people (particularly TIm the owner) genuinely make you feel at home! The food is exceptional!
The staff are very professional and go out of their way to help guests. Tim (the owner) is like a best friend that cooks you dinner every night. Her cooking is exceptional and are in the northern Thailand Chiang Mai style. The best 4 meals I have had in Thailand were cooked over 4 nights at Romyen. Seriously fabulous! So grateful for that food and the Romyen experience! If you want solitude and an escape from busy Chiang Mai (or busy anywhere) ... this is the place! The bungalows are set in a lovely garden and its good for solo travelers, groups and families. There is a large pool about 15 minutes walk away. You can check around for photos of the property and accomoodation. The property has a couple of bungalows throughout a garden. It offers solitude and peace! There is a pyramid for meditation. Apparently, one of the regular annual guests spent 3 weeks building it on one of his annual trips. It is made of wood, but he now wishes he made it from an aluminium frame which delivers the same effect. The pyramid is amazing! Getting there is difficult and expensive by taxi. Getting there and being confident of getting there is the primary problem. However, the expense of getting there is easily solved by getting a yellow songthaew (yellow 'mini-bus') from Warrot Market for 20 baht from Chiang Mai 9 (about 20 minute trip) and Romyen is 500m walk from the highway where they drop you off. Be brave! Google Maps can also show you where it is and guide you there! It's a 30 minute trip to get there. Google Maps is your friend on this one. The owner is about to provide some detailed "How to get there?" which includes Warowot Market maps, and a map showing where you can be dropped off and where to walk? That should reduce the risk. Will defintely be back again. The food and sense of family are priceless. The hut where the people gather can be a great social experience. I met some amazing people and had some very interesting conversations.

A great surprise
A very good stay. Facilities were very satisfactory for the price. Nice bed and linens. I was pleasantly surprised by the welcome coconut and that the breakfast was cooked-to-order. No Mosquitos was a bonus, considering the area was a garden.

Remote uncomfortable place (not a resort at all)
nice helpful hostess
The beds were so uncomfortable, there is so much noise from the close highway starting at 4 am that we left in the early morning and did not come back for the next night even if it was already paid. It's the worst sleeping experience we all had and we are very mad at the owner who rated 2 stars something that is no star at all. The room has a bathroom very old, no place to store your toiletry, and the shelf under the mirror is broken. There is no outlet for international plugs, it's either too narrow or to wide.

Absolutely recommended
the hostelmom; the garden, amazing food
It's a bit out of the city center so to go to the city you have to take a sung thaew for about 20 minutes, which is.great for getting to know the locals. I was at Romyen for the Lao kratong festival and hostelmom arranged for lanertn, fireworks, an acclrdeon player, the works... This was simply amazing and I would recommend this place to anyone that isn't looking for a party hostel but loves the outdoors. You can ask the hostelmom just about anything and she'll try to do anything in HDR power to do what she can.
