Designed in the style of ethnic longhouses, the 188-room resort is built on wooden stilts, and is in the heart of the Sarawak jungle. The Royal Mulu Resort is just a five minutes drive from the Mulu Airstrip and 20 minutes by boat. The four-star resort stands on the banks of the Melinau River and is situated next to the Gunung Mulu National Park, which is home to rainforest and some of the most amazing cave systems in the world. Guests have many recreational activities they can enjoy, such as cave explorations, kayaking and rock-climbing. The Royal Mulu Resort is the ideal nature destination for travelers from all over the world.
Please note that Royal Mulu Resort will be upgrading its facilities to 5 star Marriott standard. The hotel will continue operation to serve guests by utilizing 46 of existing guestrooms. The resort will be undergoing a major upgrade. The pool area and lobby lounge will not be available during this period. The first phase soft opening of the new look Mulu Mariott Resort and Spa is targeted for completion and opening by the end of May 2014. During this period there will be construction activity during working hours. However, the hotel will try to keep disturbance to a minimum.
