I was there at the wrong time

The staff, the location and the basic room facilities
I chose the Royal Thai Pavilion Hotel because it was away from the 'action', and I was there to rest, not to party. Their 'joiner fee' policy was welcome, and should have ensured that it would be quiet. Unfortunately my stay coincided with a festival which spread along the entire beach and the loud party music from right under my window was still keeping me awake at 4.30am. In frustration I got up and went to the reception staff who were sympathetic, but unable to help. It was so bad that I checked out that morning, even though I had booked and paid for two nights. The basic hotel facilities were good, but were let down by poor maintenance, design and cleaning. I had security concerns because the door to the balcony had a broken catch and could not be locked, and the in room safe was not even bolted down. The bath had a shower head too, but using it as a shower flooded the bathroom floor due to poor design. The shower curtain (between the bathroom and living area) was falling down, but fortunately I didn't need to use it. There were also a number of cobwebs across the length of the room lighting which indicated less than thorough cleaning. This may well have been a four star hotel when it was built but my room at least had fallen too far into disrepair to give it anything more than three stars.

weekend away

1, Hotel has been revamped and is very stylish with nice decor and ambiance. 2, The pool's are great and have them seperated for children safety. 3, Hotel is easy to naviagate
The staff were generally not helpful or missing. The room had been cleaned but the garbage was placed in the room cupboard in a plastic bag. There seemed to be plenty of staff but always at the reception area. Staff in the restaurant were not attentive to any guests

Won't be back
If you like staying in a hotel that smells, has poor service and food then you will be 100% happy. The room smells, towels are old and worn, the bath tub and shower curtain have black mould everywhere. In addition to this, if you want a taxi, make sure you're not in a hurry because you are right out of the way. For the whole time we were there the breakfast was the same, oh and did I mention cold. The full selection of dishes were cold everyday and this includes the poached eggs. We've been to Pattaya a few times and stayed here because we thought it was closer to some appointments we had and that was right but it was not worth the sacrifice. Next time we're going back to our previous digs. It might seem like I have nothing good to say about the place but unfortunately that's the way it is.

Relaxing trip

Friendly staff, value for money, right in front of the beach
Stay made pleasant by the friendly and helpful staff around. Though we speak different languages they are always smiling. One even remember our prefence during breakfast.
