Long weekend stay

1. Reception Service. 2. Staff friendliness. 3. Breakfast.

Glad we had room upgrade that was freely offered and accepted. Nice room at the front - but it and the bed were a little small for 3 nights. Staff were very helpful, professional and "smiley". Location was good although building works for Victoria Station improvements made for confusing walking around the area. (No problems with noise though). Slight issue over bar meal was instantly and satisfactorily resolved. No charge. A good solution and staff had the authority. Not cheap but we would go again.

Stay at The Rubens

1. location 2. the doorman 3. room service

Overall pretty good. Stayed in a Royal room which was rather small but the most annoying thing was hearing the pipeworks when other customers used the bathroom etc. The most annoying thing however was reception. Checking in was a pleasant experience but whenever we spoke to the reception/s there was no smile and they gave the impression they didn't want to be there. As being involved in the service industry a warm welcoming smile even after checking in is important and it is free! The hotel also feel a little tired and trying too hard; perhaps it may suite tourists from America but it was a bit overboard for me coming from England.

Just ok

Good location, ok value for London, close to the tube

The hotel is tired, but clean. The building and decor show their age. The staff are just ok. Some pleasant, some rough, some rushed- they need training. We had a king room so the size was fine, however the bed was hard and uneven. My experience at the hotel wasn't unpleasant in any means, but I will look elsewhere next time in London unless they were to completely remodel the site. If you want new and fresh, keep looking. If not, this will be fine.

A wonderful hotel but slightly overpriced

Attentiveness of staff, plush surroundings and an excellent breakfast
8.7
We had a one night stay in a superior king room for my husband's 40th birthday. The bedroom was very clean and plush but one of the smaller rooms we have stayed in. Paying about £70 - £100 above 'normal price' I think you are paying for the experience and overall service level too which is fine as long as you taken it into account. We had a lovely king sized bed and the staff very kindly changed the pillows as they were duck feather and as an asthmatic a no go. We also received a tray with white chocolate cake and Happy 40th written with chocolate which was a lovely touch. The breakfast was superbly cooked and very plentiful with everything you could want on offer. Overall a wonderful stay just feel it is a little on the expensive side.

Staying as a Disabled person in a Power Chair

Concierge, Reception Staff, Room Service
6
We were disappointed with the location of the room, which was next to the lift and quite noisy. This apparently was the only accessible room in the hotel, and more expensive than a standard room! (Which I thought was verging on discrimination against disabled people.) The entrance to the room was NOT easily accessible for a person in a wheelchair, and the width of the doorway was very tight. The wet room, there were not enough grab handles/rails to feel safe when using the toilet and there were no grab rails/handles inside the shower area at all! There was one folding shower seat in the shower, with a very mouldy and dirty back to the seat and immovable with a person in it! The shower head was far too high for me to use, as I am unable to stand, all in all was totally unsuitable for a disabled person to use on his own! The door to the shower did not close against anything, and I was certainly unable stop the water running out into the main area of the wet room and down onto the carpet in the bedroom. If I had been on my own, I would not have been able to manage. There was no mirror above the sink for use by a disabled person, and I had no choice but to stretch out over the marble to to use the main sink. We will NOT be staying there again, which is a shame because the staff were all excellent.

Staff, location, lovely rooms

The hotel was everything we hoped for from a 4* Central London Hotel; clean, nice decor and a good size room. The friendliness of the staff was beyond our expectations and made our family visit very special.
