Location Location Location
The Shigetsu Ryokan is a nice place to stay because of its location. The rooms are clean and the staff very accommodating. The one big problem in the traditional Japanese rooms is the sleeping mat. I have stayed at ryokans and machiyas in the past, and these mats are not comfortable at all. Why not include a traditional futon? This is a great hotel in terms of its location in the city...cannot go wrong with this choice!

Traditional stay
Very good location if you would like to explore Asakusa area. However it is not that near to Shibuya / Shinjuku area. Highly recommended for one/ two nights stay for the experience. Room might be a bit small for those who are used to spacious rooms.

The room is smelly
The room were smelly when we enter, no free water in the room, we have to go out to buy in the night. The air conditioner was not working at all, we have to open the window, but it was noisy, the whole night can't sleep at all. Bad stay ever.

Wonderful Ryokan
Location, staff, food
I stayed here foir two nights and the staff was wonderful. Despite a minor language barrier all the rules regarding staying in a Ryokan were clearly explained. The staff are very lovely people.

Nice small hotel in traditional style
Location near Sensoji, traditional elegant style, clean hotel and nice staff
Everything was O.K. Maybe breakfast is too expensive (or too small for its price).

convenient, clean, comfortable
quiet, clean, comfortable
Took alittle time to find the location from the train exit. The ryokan is in a quiet lane which at night is very tranquil. Loved the room with futon. Liked the o-furo. The room is clean comfortable and nice. Staff is friendly.
