Best way to experience Kyoto
Friendly staff, huge room and close to shopping area
We only stayed there for one night with Kansai dinner and breakfast, but we enjoyed out stay. If you want to experience traditional Japanese culture, this is the place to come. Very friendly staff.

Great location, original flavor
Traditional Japanese tatami with garden view; walking distance from main attractions; welcoming staff
The location is great, walking distance from main attractions; hotel staff speak fairly great English and give a lot of local tips. The bathing room is comfortable for a winter stay.

very cold room, could not sleep
location lonely
we expected a cozy place where you meet the owner and talk to her, she was nice but cannot speak english at all, so the contact was brief. also, the worst is sleeping on the floor with a small heather only . when the floor is freezing , it is hard not to miss a western type bed. also very sad to have an american breakfast... would not recommend

Budget Japanese Inn
Price, clean and convenient
I selected this hotel based on the budget but this Japanese inn was good enough for the price. Not extensive service but bath was good enough to recover.

Great place, a nice experience, fantastic service!
Authentic gardens and location. A memorable experience.
Great Ryokan, very friendly service! Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We had our own private toilet which was fantastic. Location was both private and central. About 5 minutes walk to the shopping/touristy area. Would definitely recommend if you're interested in Japanese culture and open to new experiences. If you're looking for the whole Hilton/four seasons experience then look there. Simple accommodation and amenities but that's the appeal and charm of the place. Thoroughly enjoyed my bath but wish it was an open air. Tried the Kensai? meal. Was a nice experience.

Excellant location, staff are wonderful
Location, location, location
My wife and I had a huge area to ourselves, 10 mat and 8 mat tatami ajoining rooms. The staff a very helpful. The ryokan is central to temple and shrine area as well a host of eateries. Facilities are clean and well maintained. All bath/shower and toilets are shared, though you can work around that. Kyoto is a lovely place to visit, even during peak holiday season.
