Ryokan was a wonderful experience! We loved it!

Service was good. We love the traditional Japanese rooms. We had good breakfasts.
Service staff were good though communicating was a problem - their command of English was very limited. They said Wifi was available in the lobby area but it was either very difficult to get or none at all. Over all the staff went out of their way to be nice, when they found out my wife was celebrating her birthday they left a nice birthday card and a little present on our tea table in our room - that was one of the kind gestures that we enjoyed at Sakanouie.

excellent experince of japanese traditional life

experince, ambience and location
This hotel struck the difference between cheap Ryokan and more expensive ones. The Sakanoue Ryokan has extremely polite staff, you'll feel that you are treated not like a guest, but a king. They will try to do everything for you and attend to all your request. The room and surrounding ambience was very traditional. We had a very interesting meal, although not the most delicious of japanese food, but I can see that it was prepared to highest standard.

A great experience of Japanese hospitability

Traditional Japanese Inn (Ryokan) in a convenient location in Kyoto
The rooms were relatively large and well appointed. We stayed during winter and the room heating along with the bedding made for a warm and comfortable stay. The staff were excellent and very helpful and made us very welcome. The experience of the Japanese hospitability was an added attraction.

The service and the room were great. We were really impressed by the breakfast. There were not much chances somewhere else can experience traditional Japanese breakfast!

we will not come back!

抵達時我們的行李有兩大皮箱,但裡面的服務人員並沒有想要出來幫忙搬的意思,就是安靜的看著我們從taxi上面吃力的把行李扛下車,這是第一個失望! 我給了他們agoda的住宿證明他們並不想看,只是慌張的說到房間check in,這時候我開始有些害怕他們為何慌張!? 川過小院子來到一個房間竟然是暖器都還沒有開, 當天京都的溫度應該是5度左右,我們坐下來但都冷到無法脫外套,他們提供了小型的暖爐,但開了兩小時依然是沒有任何感覺,我的頭因為冷所以開始非常痛, 在吃晚餐前,我向一位短頭髮的中年婦人提出是否可以換房間, 因為這個房間太冷,考量到有小孩我非常怕孩子晚上睡覺著涼,她豪不考慮的回我"impossible"!我不理解是因為她的英文程度問題還是她認為我們的要求不合理,所以如此直接且無禮的回答,但這時我已經想要打電話到去投訴這家旅館,如果他們不願意換房間給我,畢竟我要在這待上三個晚上! 在周旋之後,他們要我上樓看另外一個房間,但我去看之前這位短髮婦人再三提醒我,這個房間一樣很冷!在這期間,她進出我們的房間都完全沒有敲門或者其他基本禮儀,就直接開門衝進來,其實聽到這裡要不是我不希望我們的家庭旅行敗興我可能會跟他們發生爭執甚至立刻搬離! 這跟我每年到日本家庭旅遊的印象差距相當大,我感到失望,而且很難抹去很難忘記這位中年婦女的沒有禮貌,還好第二天換了一位侍者來服務我們,那種感受差太多! 我當初看到它是四顆半星我才訂了這家旅館,但是到了之後竟是如此失望,我希望他的經營者看到這是個嚴重的問題!
