Stayed at the Senkei Plaza, not the Ryokan

The room was quite spacious and comfortable compared to most Japan hotels. Staff was very friendly and helpful, spoke English well. Outdoor Onsen on the 5th floor was beautiful.
Room was spacious, about the size of a one bedroom apartment in Japan. Bathroom was really tiny. Nothing fancy or outstanding about the Plaza side (unlike the Ryokan side) but is was clean and comfortable. Amazingly we had a decent view from our window. The sound of the rushing river right outside soothed us to sleep, if you don't like that sound all night long ,you shouldn't stay here.

Very satisfied

Clean and comfortable, very nice rooftop bath, helpful staff
My stay was very nice! The room was very large and comfortable and included a spacious sitting area. The best part was a large rooftop bath which was very nice and beautiful. The staff was very friendly and helpful - they prepared my room right away since I arrived to check in a little early and gave me plastic bags to keep my luggage dry from the rain. It is also close to a couple restaurants for dinner and breakfast. The only slight downside is it is a little bit out of town, but it keeps it quieter and there is a free shuttle from the train/bus station!

Onsen experience

onsen, clean
It's our first experience on an spa/onsen. They provide yukata to guests. They provided etiquette on how to use the yukata, what to do in onsens, etc.. BUT I think they need to provide more information on onsen etiquette as when we went there are a lot of Chinese tourist that are very disgusting on the onsen usage. Room was clean and toiletries was sufficient... Hakoneyumoto station could be quite a walk if you have a lot of luggage or heavy stuff. But I think there are shuttles from station to the hotel.

Good location - walking distance to train station

Location, onsen and large tatami rooms
Pleasant but the hotel needs refurbishing. The rooms and facilities are old and tired. Also, communication with the hotel staff is a problem as they are non- English speaking.

Hot spring

Location, facilities
Nice enough but the room looked a little old but wasn't in the room that much so was ok. Nice hot springs. Internet not in room and connection not always good in lobby. Had a great massage tho highly recommended but certainly not cheap. Enjoyed my stay and would recommend to others.

old,dirty and boring
We booked a room for 4 adults, though we are only 2 adults and 4 young kids . The room is tatami room ,you sleep on the floor. When we arrived the boss said we have to pay 10000 yen (100 $ ) extra charge for my 3 years old son...per night !!! So we said we will cancel the booking - and then he agreed to charge only 50 $ extra . We arrived at 14 pm ,but they said the room will be ready at 15 pm. So we asked if we can use the public thermal bath meanwhile but got a no for an answer. The next day we had to leave the room at 9: 30.... The hotel is old and gloomy. With decoration from the 70's. Staff and boss are the worst we met ever ! Plenty of much better and cheaper hotels with onsen thermal bath around.
