Good for a very short stay
I booked a single room. The room was very very tiny with no window (I knew while booking that it had no windows). The hostel itself is in a narrow alley. Ideal for backpackers! Difficult for people traveling with big suitcases. Friendly staff.

Worth for value
I was there 6 nights for my trip in Saigon. It was not so good on sound proof that you could clearly heard people move around every time. Especially midnight the movement of luggage was truly a disaster. I don't need alarm as the neighbor was having renovation and you would be awake every early morning. Other than these concerns, I found this place is perfectly good for a budget traveller who can walk through the most happening district in Saigon.

Good value for money
The hostel is located in a small alley, it might be a bit scary if you arrive at night and don't know the city. However, the location is great, just next to the main bar's street. They offered us coffee and a banana for free for breakfast

Good value for money
Saigon Youth Hostel is a great value for the money. Their facilities are clean, their staff are friendly, and their location is convenient for the city center. I have no complaints about this hostel. I recommend it to anyone who is looking for a few day, or extended stay visit.

Careful how you communicate changes.
We had some trouble with our booking because we needed to cancel one night and checked in late the second night, and also because they didn't have the right genders written down. We called Agoda and at first they told us we couldn't get a refund for the first night the day of, which was understandable. But then they later emailed us saying we could in fact get a refund, and went ahead and did it. So we figured everything was good with the hostel, but Agoda and Saigon Youth Hostel must not have communicated about it because when we arrived late the evening of the second night, they told us they had cancelled our booking. After some discussion they agreed to book us for our beds without charging extra. But then we had problems because they somehow thought that both of us were female when in fact one of us was male. It all worked out in the end, but it was a headache to coordinate, and we were lucky to have a friend who spoke Vietnamese help us translate the more complicated parts.
