Amazing experience

Pool, Terrace and outdoor areas

I chose to stay at Sails with my partner because we wanted to have a very luxurious experience on our 4 day trip to Uluru. It came pretty close! The staff were excellent, I couldn't possibly ask for more from them. The surroundings were lovely and while the temperature in late April was very comfortable 20C, I can imagine a few weeks earlier, the crystal clear pool would have been beautiful to swim in. The food was good, what you would expect from a hotel but not quite 5 star. I did enjoy the wines they had on the menu. The only one very minor slight detractor from the place was that the decor was a little tired looking and my tv didn't always work. I know, not there to watch TV, but after more than a few days of up before the sun sometimes you just want to lie back and do nothing for an hour or so.

Sails in the desert: Best hotel within the resort

Location was great, market/town was a lot of fun, knowledge of staff was great
7.3
Overall stay was great, by far the best choice for stay amount the resort. Terrace level room was very nice. Not very accommodating to one night stay guests (very expensive); staff was very nice and knowledgeable.

Famill review of the Sails in The Desert

The location, food and room

We were pleasantly surprised with the standards we encountered at the hotel as we had read a number of poor or indifferent reviews prior to our visit. The location was excellent and getting to and from the airport was very easy and well organised. All of the tours picked up at the hotel and dropped off there. The room was perfectly fine, clean and up to date and suited our needs well. The room service and restaurant were very good (if a little limited in menue)for food and service. The only downside to the whole experience was the pool which looked a little old with stained areas of the lining and it was incredibly cold and therefore unusable for us, my two children who are 8 and 9 years old have gone into every other hotel pool we have had the opportunity to swim in and even the sea wherever we have been (I allways went in with them too) tried the pool but Tom, who fell in, immediately got out and my Daughter refused to go in after dipping her feet in. We returned to our room to read.

Our room wasn't cleaned every day and when we requested extra tea/coffee we didn't receieve. Staff were pleasant, but could definitely improve on their customer service

Welcome to Ayers Rock

Hotel staff friendly and organised everything, clean spacious room, good food

Lovely relaxing stay. Was definitely a bonus to have a swimming pool in the 37 degree heat! It was easy to book excursions through the hotel reception. We did the Uluru base walk at sunrise which was with a guide and took 6 hours. The guide was informative and explained the aboriginal cultural stories. We had a picnic breakfast. We also did the astronomy tour at night which involved an astronomer talking us through some pretty spectacular things. We were blessed with a clear starry night. Looking through the telescope at Jupiter, the moon, distant galaxies and clusters of billions of stars. A bargain at only $40! The guide Mike was very passionate about astronomy and made it informative and exciting. Would recommend this hotel and both tours to anyone. We had a thoroughly enjoyable stay. The hotel has a good selection of wines and serves amazing cocktails also! Was good value for money.

A Relaxing Adventure

Apart from the location and sense of place, this hotel was all we expected in regards to facilities, layout and service from the hard working staff

As a professional couple, the purpose of the visit, apart from the natural wonderment, was to unwind and relax. The Hotel proved very suitable for this and we were not disappointed. We were glad we stayed the extra time in our desert home. The captive nature of the Resort was not evident or in your face, and we felt that we had chosen well for our break.

Oasis in the dessert

Best hotel in the vicinity, nice buffet breakfast and dinner in the hotel and located near the town centre of the resort

Convenient to get tours from the hotel. Weather was on the hot side when I went. April may be a better time to go.

Nice hotel but terrible service

Decor, location, breakfast variety
5.7
Very disappointing stay. The hotel is general is nice and well maintained. However, the cleanliness of the rooms is poor. The attitude of the staff in general is not appropriate. Guests can feel that they are not really welcomed. Service in the restaurant (breakfast and lunch) is really bad.
