Nearly there
Ideal location on banks of Chao Phraya, and 2 mins walk to the temples. Lovely staff. Reasonable price. Needs some simple TLC such as carpet cleaning, window washing, wall painting, deck staining, bedding changing. Hopefully something that could be done in a couple of weeks prior to peak season. Would not take significant investment and would make a world of difference.

Great location
We chose this hotel for the location and the view of Wat Arun from across the river, loved the view even though Wat Arun is under renovation, food & staff was terrific, room cleanliness was good , However : as it was wet season I would recommend the owner of this hotel to pull some money out of his pocket and do some repairs, we were on level 3 and the room leaked through the door & window. we could not sit outside or even open the door when it did rain ( no roof over the balcony ) looking back to the room from river side or restaurant shows the place is in some serious need of renovation. I rate this a 3 star hotel with 4 star prices. Still love Bangkok for its surprises great location walking distance to Grand Palace. Happy to go back again, hopefully the owner will read this.

Nice little boutique hotel
This hotel is located close to the Grand Palace and Wat Pho. With the exception of the bar/restaurant being very noisy when people leave, it was a nice stay. Expect to be woken up around 10/11pm by the bar guests leaving from the roof.

wont stay again
I was happy with the location but booking on line the motel didn't live up to expectations. The food dinner and breakfast wasn't the best. The room was ok. I think a bit expensive for what you get

Very good location but noisy
Very noisy, stairs cracking with people coming down the rooftop restaurant all night until midnight. Dont recommend if you are looking for quiet place. On the other hand, the location is amazing, at door step of Wat Pho and Royal Palace and river boats. Hygiene of staff need to be improved (ice cube handling for instance), and communication skills as well.

Few passing days in Bkk
Sala Arun was in my memory from 5 years ago and quirky, comfortable spacious and smart B and B with a mind boggling view of the river and a gorgeous Wat of significance Today it's run down and has been halved for the owners to develop and smarter, sassier and upmarket version next door. It feels like they ran out of capital to do the whole lot so half stands Sala Arum falling down and half stands Sala Rattanakosin it's finer neighbour.
