Very good location but noisy
Very noisy, stairs cracking with people coming down the rooftop restaurant all night until midnight. Dont recommend if you are looking for quiet place. On the other hand, the location is amazing, at door step of Wat Pho and Royal Palace and river boats. Hygiene of staff need to be improved (ice cube handling for instance), and communication skills as well.

Few passing days in Bkk
Sala Arun was in my memory from 5 years ago and quirky, comfortable spacious and smart B and B with a mind boggling view of the river and a gorgeous Wat of significance Today it's run down and has been halved for the owners to develop and smarter, sassier and upmarket version next door. It feels like they ran out of capital to do the whole lot so half stands Sala Arum falling down and half stands Sala Rattanakosin it's finer neighbour.

Best view of Bangkok
I spent a night at Sala Arun with a greatest view of Wat Arun. The room is cozy and clean. Zipping some cocktails at a Bar on 5th floor made a perfect evening.

We had a good stay
The lighting in the bathroom is too dark, so that you cannot see nearly nothing in the mirror!

Beautiful Boutique Hotel with Great View
View, proximity to places of interest, convenience
It was a pleasant 3 days stay at the hotel. The staff were helpful and the place is really very relaxing. Wat Pho is just across the street and Wat Arun is just a boat ride across the river. It was nice to sit by the balcony to watch the river and sunset. However, we were given a room with a huge tree in front of the balcony that block the entire view of Wat Arun. The stuff was nice to give us a partial refund and charge us with a room of city view instead. Breakfast is alright however, wish there could be more food and variety

Ideal way to find the best of Thailand
Views, location, dining
We spent our first day in Thailand at Sala Arun, and its location inside "old town" provided the perfect introduction to the people and culture of the country.

Only for the view
the view
Although the rooms were well appointed, they were small and very much in need of an overhaul (especially the plumbing, which emitted some strange smells). The stairways/entrance ways are in dire need of a clean and repaint. Sharing the hotel stairs with rooftop bar patrons is not ideal. The restaurant is vastly overpriced. The view is pretty much the only redeeming quality. Definitely not all it is made out to be :(
