Dont go
I paid for discounted room and I got discounted room, reception made me wait 1 hr fro room, as they were dealing with irate customers complaining of hotel,10pm, gave me 2 single bed for one solo guy asked to move to double bed took them another day to do that, but the room gave was next door to pump room, so I was awake all the time listening to fun pumps complained of the noise to reception, 4 days later, they wanted to move me, I told them to forget it, and Ill be leaving soon. place is no way 4 star, id give it a 1 star, for being built, thats it, change the staff manager you may've a nice hotel, never ever want to stay there again

Nice place, recommended!

+ Staff, sea view and quiet location
We liked this place a lot. Staff are really sweet, upgraded us with sea view 3rd floor and extra bed free of charge. Can imagine that the room facing the street is not so great so better choose sea view on higher floor. The hotel was quiet which we liked traveling with children. If you choose this hotel we can recommend an very nice restaurant with fantastic atmosphere just 200 meters south down the street from the hotel, "The New Hut Bangalow Restaurant", very nice place by the Beach!

Resort style at its best

clean, friendly staff, good price
Standard from a basic resort style hotel. Breakfast decent. Views great and pool a good size. Would stay again.

Disapointing experience-NOISE & demotivated staff!

Great restaurant next door at the Spa Resort, nice beach to walk on and comfortable bed.
I first stayed at Samaya Bura in 2008 and we loved the hotel having found it. We had a great stay; the hotel was in good condition, excellent staff, nice cocktails and overall the experience was positive. Since then I've stayed 5 times and each year the experience has worsened. The hotel is now in a poor state of repair and cleanliness of rooms is low. On our first night, despite the hotel being half full we were put in rooms close to reception, beside the main road. The noise from the road was bad, but sleeping was prevented by reception staff and maids talking - and shouting loudly near the rooms. Appalling behavior. Also, during the night the front desk phone would constantly ring and not be answered, the ring tone was so loud one would think you were in a fire station. Breakfast was basic, staff were miserable and not trained, the manager should be fired as when we politely tried to provide constructive and fair comments, she did not try to apologize or listen, she said 'you don't like, you write and ask refund - then walked away'. Incredible. Internet does not work half the time, not enough sun loungers and ambiance non existent. Overall disappointed as I've recommended the hotel to many friends since my first visit.

Excellent hotel amazing views and a quiet atmosphe

Location in Lamai Beach ocean front rooms. The pool on the beach
We booked three nights in advance and made an extension for another 4 nights This hotel is great for those who hires a motorcycle or a car and want to go even in Htzawng and Lamai and relax in a quiet and great hotel. The hotel staff is very nice. Breakfast is nice. Large rooms and beautiful modern Oriental furniture comfortable bed duvets pillows. Amazing amazing ocean view. The birds are chirping. The atmosphere is relaxed. Front of the hotel across the street there is a restaurant that leases motorcycles. Good decent people. I'm sure I'll be back again

Location, location ,location
Make sure you spend a couple extra baht and get the ocean view room . The rooms could have been a bit cleaner, but it wasn't a deal breaker. The bar is expensive for thai standards . Rent a scooter from martin the swede. He's on the other side of the street and a block or so away. This place is a good value

if you want peace...and out of the way...stay here

sun rise, choice of ocean or pool, and tranquility
a great stay, very nice staff but they do lack in commuication skills...the travel desk could have made a lot of money out of my cousin and me, had they interacted with us.the room i had was magnificent. spacious and it had a large spa pool in it...get that room for your parties...location was a bit disappointing, but thats my fault...simply just hire a scooter should you want to travel around the island...chewang beach is the go....was it value for money?.....they need to step up there customer service in more ways than one..and i think everyone who stays here would agree....6 1/2 out of ten..

Only just a 4star hotel

It's next door to a detox spa which has a great restaurant, is on Lamai beach with nice views.
It didn't meet our expectations, to be honest. The room stank of sewage every time we flushed the toilet, and the sink didn't drain. We changed rooms after a few nights. Wifi connection was very poor. The hotel does not have a sandy beach: it's a concrete drop off into the water (with a small patch off sand with big sharp rocks to one side at low tide). Not really suitable for kids. Staff were friendly. Breakfast was okay, but limited choice (eg only option on toast was jam: no cheese, ham, peanut butter etc). We won't be staying there.
