My recent 4 days and nights at the Sandakan Hotel.

The cafe and reception staff, the location and the morning breakfast.
The Sandakan Hotel room that I was given had obviously not had regular maintenance for sometime. Firstly the room safe was unserviceable and had to be replaced as was the bar refrigerator. Then the bedside lights did not have bulbs (globes) and these had to be affixed but the ceiling fluorescent tubes that needed replacement was ignored after I even wrote a note to the General Manager requesting that it be replaced as the 'starter' produced an annoying noise. I realise that the hotel was built in the late nineties but the paint work next to the beds was peeling due to moisture. It would seem that their form of maintenance was to replace working items from the room next door! The staff was really pleasant. This report was meant to be constructive and from my recent experience.
