Top quality food in a relaxing atmosphere
Efficient and friendly staff I enjoyed the 7am free yoga class followed by a free tour through the rice fields to a nearby Luwak coffee maker.

Stay here!
We stayed here for our Ubud part of our vacation. All I can say is that the people who work here are awesome!!! The rooms were changed everyday, they gave us tour suggestions. We honestly saw more than I had planned. The food and as okay. Nothing to complain about except that the bottle opener is difficult to use ; ).

Unsatisfactory stay: low value for money
Our stay in sankara resort was disappointing: the resort is nice but we expected 5 star facility and treatment.The judgement is also based on analogue resort in Lombok where we stayed the week before which was much better overall. Sankara lacked of the "unique position" advantage (we expected to be surrounded by nature and rice fields while there is another resort in construction just in front of our terrace - not acceptable for the money paid); the road to get there is really superbad and even if it is not sankara's fault I guess they could find a way to make it viable via car without bouncing 30 times in 10 meters! The staff tried his best to be super nice and welcoming but, with the exception of people at the reception, nobody understood our simple requests (eg asking to have the bread more toasted was a real achievement!); we were also displeased by the fact that the receptionist during check-out asked us what we took from minibar and one second later sent via walkie-talkie somebody in the room to check: either you do not ask us or you check by yourself. I also signed the final check in which there was a clause for which is pre-agreed in paying future fees or costs would come later: I asked what was the meaning or examples of those expenses but the answer was completely unclear (like it is normal do not worry)!!! finally since our flight was anticipated from afternoon to early morning and we did not want to have a rush in the last day of vacation, we kindly asked to anticipate check out by one day but the manager, after 2 clear requests of "support" from our side, agreed on discount of ca 20 eur (ca 15% of the value paid for 1 night stay). We had a discount booking earlier and we knew it was not modifiable: the point is that for Sankara they were not able to change it because we booked through Agoda, while for Agoda it was a "Hotel policy" rule. Overall I believe the resort is overpriced and the customer is not really put at the center as I think should be.

Great place to relax
Serene setting within the grounds; helpful staff; pool
If you want to stay at the resort most of the time this is a great place to stay near Ubud. The pool and staff are great. The food is tasty. The grounds are fabulous. However, because of Ubud traffic and road conditions, the trip into town can take more than an hour and therefore the pick up back to the resort is not reliable. This is not at all the fault of the resort, but just a reality of the situation in Ubud and much of Bali for that matter.

Amazing resort, amazing location, amazing staff. Not a bad word to say!!! Great place to totally relax and enjoy Bali. Shuttle bus service to town is fantastic. Highly recommended!

Perfect Ubud Stay for Couples
Breakfast and Dinner are amazing, Staff performance excellent, Greenery View
My stay was lovely. I spend 2 nights with my wife, checked in 01 Jan, checked out 03 Jan. Overall experience was amazing Staff performance are very very well, they are very polite, greetful, and helpful as well. The breakfast was wonderful, some options to choose (not that type of buffet breakfast, this one is ala carte) like American, Continental, Indonesian,etc. Dinner was great too. But the menu can be improved, understand the capacity of the hotel that cannot cater too much menu as well. Our room was upgraded to a villa 2 Bedroom, which was great but too big for just me and wife :) end up 1 room left unoccupied. However, if you wish to stay at Ubud, far from town (no worry free shuttle provided), this is the best!

The room, the staff and the pool
The room exceeded our expectations, it was spacious, modern and extremely clean. All amenities were taken care of from complimentary bottled water, shampoo, conditioner, hair dryer and adpator plug to even a couple of umbrellas that we had to make use of on the first day. The staff were fantastic, very friendly and helpful and the restaurant manager even knew our names and came to chat to us over breakfast on day 1. The pool area was very relaxing, no noisy pop tunes blaring out in fact the whole resort was very peaceful during our 3 night stay. The hotel shuttle bus was frequent and without traffic only took about 10 minutes but one day it took us about 30 minutes to get back due to hectic high season traffic. We also walked into the town one morning which took about 25 minutes but you don't need to with the regular bus schedule. The spa treatment we had was great but we didn't get to try the yoga as the teacher was ill. Breakfast was plentiful and varied and the Thai beef salad I had for lunch was delicious. As you can tell we had a great stay at Sankara!
