Small, Cramped and Loud
The room was clean
The SGHLCY is a budget hotel located in the heart of Chinatown. When I say budget, I mean just that. Everything about the room was small from the bed to the bathroom. I always felt cramped. Then there was the noise. The outside noise didn't stop until about 1am and then the trash truck would come by at about 4am and it sounded like it was right outside, which it was. Also, the interior walls were paper thin and multiple times I thought the people in the next room were in my room. When I complained about the noise, I was told that that was just the way Chinatown was, so in other words, tough luck. Would I stay here again, no, would I recommend it to a very budget oriented late night partier, yes.

Good value for money
Very close to Chinatown MRT and other major shopping centers. Love the old opera house feel as seen in the hotel's architecture. Very accommodating staff.
The room is quite small but it doesn't really matter so much because I'm always out anyway. Service is very satisfactory. Will definitely book here again when I return to Singapore.

good location, friendly staff but very small room
easy to access subway, friendly staff and nice lobby
location is very convenient. Staff is very friendly. Lobby is very nice. Breakfast are provided by international and local food. However room is too small and not comfortable especially bathroom. It is too small and not good in furniture arrangrment. Some room is no window. Please tell staff first that you need window!

Comfortable but very small room for single person.
Chinatown, metro, staff.
The location is marvelous, close to metro. The staff are extremely helpful. The morning breakfast was plentiful and adequate with a good variety. The cappachino was a real treat. I had a single room and it is very single, total space was about 20 meter square. The shower flowed across the full bathroom floor and onto the toilet. I do prefer a separate shower room.

Tiny room but quirky
Comfortable,In the heart of China town,Good for sight seeing
Easy check in,there are 2 Santa Grands in the same street but short walk if you get dropped off at wrong one.Tiny rooms especially if you have a lot of lugage but has everything you need and probably not bad value for Singapore.

tiny room, central location, friendly staff
location, breakfast available, free internet
I had to switch rooms in the middle of my stay due to availability. The first room, single room was so small that I couldn't put my bag on the floor. It had a window overlooking the street and loud music blaring through most of the night. The second room I had was a double room (called a deluxe room). It was much better for noise and a bit larger. The location (3rd floor) was also much quieter. However, the beds were of the same quality, with the springs poking through. It's a good hotel for location and transportation.
