Rustic retreat

quiet, natural environment, food
We had a nice one-night stay at the Eco Lodge. Though the rooms had no AC, the naturally cool weather helped us to sleep very soundly and feel great in the morning. We ate three times at the lodge, and each time the food, cooked by a Javanese native, was delicious. Choices were limited but that is understandable given the rather remote location on a rough road in from the highway. A nice feature of the hotel is the outdoor lounge where we played cards and enjoyed the garden atmosphere. We strolled through the village, a very quiet one after 7 pm.

Great Location and Friendly Staffs

Nature Location Staffs
it was really enjoyable. The lodge offers unique stay experience. It is in tha nature, no TV, no AC, which is fantastic to my taste. The crickets are up all night and the roosters as the alarm in the morning. I even got my first leech bite LOL The best thing is the location which is within walking distance of Way Kambas

Traditional Kampong Atmosphere

nice Indonesian kampong atmosphere, very calm and peaceful atmosphere, near Way Kambas elephant location
My stay was very peaceful. My 3 year old son had a fun time chasing chickens and observing the local bugs and small animals.

Lovely lodge and service with a smile

the nearest best service lodge before enjoying the journey to the Way Kambas National Park
We were happy because of the friendly staff, good food of a cozy lodge.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip: Only around 500 m, to the main gate of Way Kambas National Park, which you can enjoy and explore the rain forest of Sumatera. If you're lucky enough than you can see some of the endangered species such as Sumatran tiger, Binturong, Gibbons, Tapir. But, for seeing the rhino you need a special permission from the Ministry of Forestry! There is also a possibility to go roaming into the jungle in the night looking for night-dwellers animals.

Pleasant lodge, friendly staff

Amazing location for nature lovers, friendly staff
The best place to stay if you're planning on visiting Way Kambas National Park. Very friendly and helpful staff which does their best to take you to any places you would like to visit and accommodate special requests. The lodge is no frills but has a nice garden. Rooms are large. Wi-Fi is available around the office area, not in all rooms. I would gladly stay here again.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip: No trip to Way Kambas is complete without visiting the elephant training centre. Although breakfast is included you'll have to pay a small fee for lunch and dinner - which you'll end up having at the lodge as there are no restaurants in the vicinity. Also pick-up from the airport and usage of any of the cars and drivers to go to any attractions in the park is not included in the price, but it's all priced very fairly. Just be sure to bring enough extra cash.

Nice balance

comfortable personable
Great balance of comfort - hot water clean etc - without being indulgent or pandering to the tourist. Most suitable for its clientele mostly visitors to the Way Kambas National Park and its ecological concerns, the environment is peaceful with pleasant gardens (with squirrels) and rooms are ample and would be suitable for writing or study, (ie not all full of bedding and TVs!) Food is good and service is flexible with advance notice. Assistance is available for all sorts of additional needs such as transport and the fees can be added to the tab or paid directly (at least we did and it didnt seem to change the deal in any way. Staff, house friends and the local population are friendly - the latter especially if they know you speak a little indonesian. I would have no hesitation in staying there again or bringing a team for a working retreat. Be aware the shuttle to and from airport comes with an additional cost.
