Highly recommended peaceful and first class guest
The food, friendly staff, great advice and the peaceful environment
Highly recommended peaceful and first class guest house. I arranged the hotel to meet me at the airport with a motorbike which made transport easy and fun.15 minutes later I arrived. The guest house was situated in a wood down a country lane. Staff were super friendly and welcomed me with free green tea.I felt at home. The owner advised me I could swim on a high tide. 2 minutes walk was a rock face which I climbed down to the sea, warm and refreshing after the travelling. The room was clean orderly and had aircon, free tea, coffee and hairdryer. There we loads of great dvd movies to watch.I slept really well. The highlight of the stay however was a dinner of delicious fresh fish perfectly cooked with herbs. Theres a spa nearby which I tried for a modest price and that was like a paradise island . I think that anyone who loves peace, great natural food and most of all genuine people are going to love this place!

Very big disappointment in Panglao
Affable home owner, the surroundings are quiet.
After staying 3 nights here at Julian's house we feel we must write an honest assessment of his place for the benefit of other travelers and for the reputation of internet booking sites on which so many of us rely. Stay here if you are not concerned about conditions, food, or cleanliness. Do not book here if you expect even basic good management, a clean bed, or good, basic meals. Sadly, we must join the other reviewers who felt Julian's photos and descriptions of his place to be a woeful misrepresentation of what even budget travelers should get. For the record, we booked before some other travelers had stayed here, then sent in reviews. In our opinion, it is the negative reviews that are accurate.

Best meal in my asian travels
cuisine, peace and hospitality
Best food I’ve had on my Asian travels My stay in the Native sweet was a very pleasant and relaxing surprise. I loved it. For the small price I paid I got a lot of value for money. The place was much cleaner than most Asian hotels and packed with small room facilities like dvd player kettle, hair dryer, high quality shampoos etc you don’t normally get at this price point. The easy going staff kindness was only surpassed by the food at dinner which was outstanding.! I was given a free ice soup (Gaspacho) as well which was really interesting and my main meal of French casoulet stew was a culture shock in the middle of Asia. It also felt very healthy! If you wanted a noisy action packed place I wouldn’t stay here but I absolutely loved the quietness of the rest house . No traffic noise just nature. I would highly recommend this to people who like gastronomy and peace! Bon apetite!

What a disappointment
-
We were "upgraded" to the honeymoon room. The room was dark, humid and definitely not clean. No privacy at all, we could hear all the conversations and were waken up in the morning by loud music. The bathroom was in really poor condition. The shower head was so dirty that only a little water could come out with made having a proper shower quite a challenge. The sink had never been cleaned. The bed was totally uncomfortable, with a tick plastic cover on top of the mattress and bed sheets that smelled humidity. Regarding the service it was almost nonexistent, the staff was clearly useless. As soon as we arrived, even before we dropped or bags on the floor we were asked for the reservation voucher. There was no motorcycle for hire as it had already been hired by other guests. It took a long time before they could arrange for another one. We were stuck in the room for 24hrs during a tropical storm and when we asked if we could get some lunch around, we were told that there were no options. So we had simply no food. We were given the opportunity to order food for diner (which we did as we were starving and had no other options due to bad weather). The food was nothing spectacular, and seriously overpriced. The home stay is really isolated, there is nothing around and you will need to drive for minimum 20 minutes for some activities. We have stayed in many guest houses all over Asia and don't need much comfort but this place will definitely be in our worst experience list.

One of the few failure in my accommodation history
Friendly staff, good host, good travel advice
We are a young moderately traveled couple, budget to mid-range. The staff were friendly and with initiatives to help. There is a scooter for rent at an average market price 500 pesos. The travel advice from the host was practical and agreeable, unique. BUT it turned out to be one of the worst accommodation choices, I will never book according to Agoda reviews alone. The place is a house with two or three rooms for guests, no pool, a poorly kept garden full of mosquito and cockroach. We chose Native suite which came with a detached washroom, with weak water pressure and without hot water. I speculate that the pics were taken when it was very new. When it rained one night our "lounge area" became flooded. Ants crawling around in the room, its spots varying daily. The bamboo bed was bent so that the middle was sunk which will give you a back pain, additionally too short for people over 175cm. The bed is made of bamboo frame and two skinny layers of sponges covered by some plastic and skimpy sheets, which will let you wake up on a rubbery plastic cover while the sheet is tangled up in one corner. TV is tiny and not flat-screen. Breakfast was OK, never wanted to try dinner. The staff were friendly but not professional. What they call Seaside is an abandoned shore full of junks and rubbish nearby. The WiFi meant for the guests never worked during our 3 night stay, we borrowed the main house's which meant we needed to loiter around the host house to catch signal. I resorted to leaving 1 night earlier at my expense. For further unplanned stay due to storm, we stayed at another resort in Panglao. I am really shocked with the other highly-appraised reviews as there are plenty other places of better value in Panglao. Lastly we found the location the worst in Bohol , not far from City but not easily accessible, impossible without a scooter which they sell really hard from the second you check-in. Also not close to beaches.

mis-represented on agoda
staff, rooms, price
Seaside, but no where near the sea and so far to the main town, no security, no cafe's or restraunts, so secluded and the area didn't feel safe to me, but the staff was excellent, and the hotel is very nice.

Quiet green place with a beautiful view
The dining tower is a great place to sit and relax. There You can also enjoy delicious food prepared by the owner. The bike they rent is perfect for the roads around the hotel.

Little Gem: home away from home
Location, Value and Staff
If you are traveling to Bohol and wish to stay at a place home away from home? You must book here. I was delighted to find this place and not only did i book it in 2 different periods but i'll return many times over! Lord of the Manor and Master Chef Julian is a charming gentleman that runs this place with lot's of love and care! Host Mariz is super friendly and welcoming and will accommodate your requests at any time of day or evening looking after you with extreme care! Two little angels are there to aid this place run smoothly and make your stay extremely pleasant. There is a lot of value staying here. From amazing dinners prepared w emphasis on fresh and prime ingredients to renting motorbikes so you tour the island's destinations leisurely. Bohol is about simple lifestyle and time to enjoy nature. Many attractions are at your reach for entrance fee not expensive at all... zip line? chocolate hills? tarsiers? butterfly garden? magaso falls? beaches? all delightful to attend... Rainy outside? stay in and ask for a variety of movies to watch while in your room... remember you can ask for snacks, beer, even games if you get bored on those rainy days... I can't wait to visit my friends at Seaside again! Tips: need airport transfer? ask for Ryan to be your taxi driver. If you are ok with a motorbike driver? Ask for Vanny (Giovanny). Get a Thai massage in city. Ride the motorbike around the island!!!
