Disappointing Experience

We picked Shanghai JC Mansarin because our kids and us had a good time there years ago after Christmas. This time was different. When we got off the taxi, no one came out to greet us. We , 3 of us had to carry 3 big and 1 small luggages to the lobby. After checking in, I asked if some one would move the luggages to the room. The answer was NO. It was only after I showed a shocking expression that the front desk lady asked someone to bring them up. The pool, supposed to be heated. I went to check, the staff said kindly that the temp was 26/27. Might be a good idea to see if it was too cold for me. And it was actually locked because "not too many people using it". It was an egg and chicken cycle. If it is so cold, why tourists bother to go at risk of catching flu on the road? We checked out on 29/12. Af My husband found out afterwards that the bill was wrong. I called and a staff politely adjusted immediately. On our way out also nobody care about our luggage. Fresh experience in a five star hotel. The staff had one thing in common, efficient but NO smile poker face staff. I wonder is it the same group of HK Mandarin managing it. I prayed not! We stayed in Hangzhou Shangri-la . Everything returned to five star standard. Staff were friendly with smile, had staff moved the luggage in and out. Pool was 29 degree . With grand parents swimming with kids, love to stay in a friendly resort hotel. I won't pick JC Mandarin ever again. For the similar standard of expense I have a lot of choices. Thanks.

Internet very slow, I house dining took to long I could of gone out for a meal come back and still be waiting. I have even emailed hotel for assistance for dialled numbers from my stay and staff can not even reply.

Expensive and old room condition just for biz trip

Location and staff
I stayed at JC Mandarin for couple of nights. The hotel room condition were very old despite the deluxe room. The hotel cost was also very expensive comparing to the condition, you pay only for the location. The funniest thing is about the hotel charges 20 USD/day for internet!!!! They should do much more better than this

Centrally Located

location location and location
JC mandarin stay was decent but not value for money. Rooms are clean buy pretty old fashioned. Also, they charge for wifi! Not heard of in any hotels nowadays! can get other options, even decent 4 starts are a much lesser price, and yes, with free wifi!

It is a friendly and comfortable hotel

in the midst of high end shopping malls, good location for the feeling of grand city life and conveniently located near to MRT station.
we enjoyed staying in the hotel. Staff were friendly and it was easy to move around all parts of Shanghai by taxi and underground subway. It was a great experience joining the one day tour to near by water town arranged by the hotel tour agent.

No free Wifi provided in the room and NOT even in hotel lobby which is totally unacceptable. The charges for Wifi is also high. This hotel still has not caught up with the trend of most hotels in Shanghai where free Wifi is provided either in room or lobby. They will lose a lot of loyal clients if they still insist on making small profit from Wifi.
