Shepherd Arms

Proprietor was very helpful , friendly, and always accessible. Secure off-street parking is provided. Hotel is very quaint, and provides food and beverages in a nice atmosphere.
Hotel is charming but in need of repair to carpeting in the hallways (torn), and paint peeling on the bathroom ceiling. Continental breakfast was supposedly provided, but dishes and utensils were not available, and chambermaid wasn't around to ask for them. Breakfast was just fresh fruit, cereal & milk. It was relatively quiet. No A/C; internet not available in the room as advertised. Overall, we enjoyed our stay.

location price and staff
pleasant stay once worked out bus transport easy to get into city staff friendly room good only complaint would be we booked for breakfast which turned out to be 2 bowls each of muesli and peaches which as Im not over keen on meant no breakfast even toast or cornflakes would have helped perhaps they should put no breakfast but that do supply the above

Nice place. Lots of street noise

Good location for catching the ferry. Nice pub at hotel.
Street noise was bad. Good thing I travel with earplugs. Easy walk to most things in town. Right near the Botanic Garden.

Parking, Location, Cost
Although we were late in arriving, due to a late ferry crossing (although we did advise by phone), we had to wait for a member of staff to attend the reception. The building seems to be well overdue refurbishment (light fittings, heater - very suspect). When we attended the breakfast area at 8.15am, there was no food left. Although the maid did arrange for cereal and tinned fruit to be supplied to the room.

Great hotel!

Great rooms, great food and great location - as we travelling back home to Cambridge next day - so close to motorway - a great location!
A great experience - the second time we have stayed at Shepherds Arm Hotel and won't be the last time!

Plenty cheap and better out there

Location, free car parking, Being above a good bar
The place is in great need of refurbishment, mouldy ceiling in Bathroom, light bulbs needing replaced, toilet brush with faeces on it, had to ask for more toilet paper as only half a roll in toilet, 3 milks in fridge strange for a couple, plunger coffee supplied, no plunger. Biggest dissapointment was breakfast. Got to where the "breakfast" was being served and there was two types of cereals and milk. This is not a breakfast that can be advertised, also to add insult to injury I had someone knocking on my door at twenty to ten looking for the empty bowl from alleged breakfast. Why she could not wait till I checked out I cannot understand. I do not recommend this hotel to anyone there are plenty of well priced hotels in Wellington, this was more like an overpriced backpackers. I think a backpackers would be cleaner and probably a better breakfast!
