A perfect little oasis

We loved the staff, who were so friendly and helpful. Everyone was smiling, all the time. The place was so tranquil and beautiful. And yet, it was a great location-- VERY close to the night market!
We fell in love with Chiang Mai, and a big part of that is thanks to Shewe Wana. We will definitely stay here again.

Comfortable and convenient

There's regular shuttle to the Wat and Night Bazaar. Besides, it's walking distance to most amenities.
Totally enjoyed the hospitality.

Lovely relaxing stay away from the chaos of the ci

The gardens, breakast and geckos.
We hadn't actually chosen to stay in the city in Chiang Mai, but our plans changed. Shewe Wana was a lovely place. The room was comfortable, the breakfast was nice. Pool looked nice, but, amazingly, it was a little too cool for us to swim during our stay.

Lovely hotel, but terrible food

Bed, ambience, room
This is a great hotel to stay in Chiang Mai, where the staff are very helpful. The breakfast has a wide selection and the room is large, with a wonderfully comfortable bed. The hotel has a boutique feel to it and has 2 pools to use. It is a relaxing place fo stay which is very accomodating to its guests. However, the food in the restaurant is terrible - a real shame, especially given there are some lovely Thai restaurants in Chiang Mai.

Great little oasis

Staff, food, atmosphere
Our stay was wonderful. A nice getaway oasis from the hustle and bustle of the old city. I loved the rainforest feel and how quiet the grounds were. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. The breakfast was delicious.

Lovely hotel, but out of the way for walkers

friendly staff, strong a/c
This was a perfectly fine hotel, but I was a little disappointed. I've stayed in other top-rated, "travelers' choice" hotels, and they were amazing. This one is also top-rated, but it was okay. Nothing wrong with it, but not amazing. First of all, there's the location. Other reviewers have mentioned the tranquil oasis off a busy street. And that's nice, but if you just want tranquility, why bother going into the city at all? Just stay in a remote resort. We like being in the middle of things, and the hotel was not at all in the middle of things. It was a 15-20 minute walk to the night market area, along a busy boulevard that runs east-west, so it's in the bright sun all day long. In hindsight, this was the biggest disappointment for us: not being about to walk out the door and be in the middle of things. The breakfast buffet was spartan. Pleasant enough, but not exactly a ton of choices. Wifi was shaky. It was free and fast enough, but we had to login again and again and again on all devices. It couldn't maintain a connection. Pools were nice enough, although small, not suitable for lap swimming. Best thing about the hotel was the front desk staff, who were very helpful, eventually. When we arrived, I asked about the Muay Thai stadium and got a lot of wishy-washy lukewarm, "we don't really know but we heard it's not operating and maybe you want to take an elephant tour?" stuff. So we went and did our own research and booked our own tours. Later when we stopped by the front desk, we found other staff going over-the-top to help, guide, and advise other guests about things to see and do. I wish we'd just waited for a change of shifts, then asked other staff on our first day about stuff to do. Turns out the front desk staff is great, and my lukewarm answer was an anomaly. The Muay Thai stadium is indeed operating, and worth a visit!
