Paradise
I've never stayed in such a peaceful resort as this one . Staff are wonderful and service can't be bettered. If you can,it's worth paying a bit more to stay in an Executive Villa on the River. It's cooler and very quiet just watching the elephants walk right past all day.

A Day in the Mae Taeng Mountains
Thai Air Asia had special rices for their new route, Khon Kaen to Chiang Mai and Thai Rent-A-Car had a promotion for renting an Eco car, so it was a no brainer. We were trying to find a unique several days in the mountains north of Chiang Mai and found Sibsan when searching Agoda's available hotels/resorts. Sibsan sounded so good that we decided to try and rented a room for 2 days. Then Agoda asked if we wanted to upgrade to an Executive villa for a nominal fee and we took it. Best decision ever. What a beautiful resort situated next to the Mae Taeng Elephant Park. I have never seen a swimming so huge and so unique that it looks like a lake in Google's Satellite view. The y also have a sightseeing tower to view the area from over a 100 feet in the air. Classic! Even though we both like traditional Thai food, the restaurant's meals were very good for Westerner style foods. The resort seems to cater to foreigners not Thais. Their breakfast buffet was excellent. So all in all a great setting for 2 quiet days. Oh yes, every villa is a separate building and many of them are poolside.

Out of date, dirty, bad food, nothing good
don't believe the fake positive reviews on this site. Smells like you are in a dirty zoo. Awful food. There were so many ants in our bathroom that we couldn't use it at all. Everything looks like it hasn't been updated since the 70s...even the bedding. There was no redeeming factor about this place...not even the location being close to elephant visiting places.

In the nature
The Hotel is quite a distance from Chiang Mai and the taxi Drivers charge around 1000 bhatt for a one-way ride (Hotel charges 1500, as of June 2016). Room is big enough, clean, AC working, interior design quite nice. I have no complaints about the room (though selection of the pillows would be nice - the ones we had were big and uncomfortable). Staff is very friendly although the Level of English is low - most of the time they did not understand what we were asking. Breakfast was not as good as in other places we stayed at, had to stick to the eggs (the rest were big meals like Rice soups, stir fries, etc; fruits were constantly covered with flies). We both got bad bites from insects though we used the Repellent. There are mollions of insects and some a VERY loud - first i thought there is a construction going on as I constantly heard the Sound of the metal cutter. Turned out to be a bug :) If you love nature, remoteness, it's a perfect place. Maybe renting a car would help with getting to places in Chiang Mai easier (for better Food).

Nice resort with a great pool
Wanted to get out of the city of cnx and tried this resort. It's next to the elephant farm and at the river, can see the elephant being washed. The rooms are nicely done with the thai feel in mind. Breakfast and dinner was nice as its at the pool. There is also a coffee house inside the resort next to the river. Its a good hour drife from cnx but i thought it was worth it.

Second time to this beautiful resort, at teenager's request.
Great getaway for a peaceful, relaxing time with family or friends. Friendly staff, from reception to restaurant servers to maids and even gardeners. The included breakfast buffet with an omelette station was nice, and we enjoyed our lattes, too. Food and beverages are very pricey (and we knew that ahead of time, so brought food and snacks with us). The setting is gorgeous throughout the resort. We live in Chiang Mai, and this place is a favorite. I am sure we will be back again.
