Beware name confusion

This was a clean and comfortable hotel and represented good value for money. However it was a bit out of the way. Beware it was not the hotel we thought it was. Following a reccommendation we thought we were booking la niche hotel in siem reap. The existence of another hotel with a very similar name is likely to confuse. We certainly got muddled!

My first day in Cambodia

Room, staff
I booked this room prior to my departure from Malaysia, and was kinda shocked by its location. It's away from the city area, and due to heavy construction happening nearby, the road condition is at it's worst condition. I decided to move to other place for my remaining stays in Siem Reap. However, other terms like room condition and staff performance is above average. I requested for a mountain bike and get it in hours. I was prepared, personally, my breakfast next day morning because i woke up kinda late. All foods are consumed by other customers before I even get a chance to have them. Nice staffs there make me a fried noodle immediately and this is highly appreciated. For people who do not mind to stay a bit away from city area with cheap money, I will definitely recommend this hotel.

Clean, Wifi
This is my second stay at this hotel and this time it was disappointing. I booked this hotel as I knew it from my previous stay when I liked it and wrote positive review. Unfortunately this time I cannot do the same. The bad experience started with the promised pick-up service. We had no luggage and had visa so were out of the airport just 10 minutes after the airplane landed. No one was waiting for us so I called the hotel and they told us that the tuk-tuk driver had been waiting for us long time (even we were out of the airport first from our flight). They told us to wait and he will come in 5 minutes. After 15 minutes I called again and they repeated the story from the beginning like we never talked before. After another 10 min I called again and they assured us that the driver is on his way. after another 15 mins we just took our own transport. That resulted in staying at the airport for 40 minutes and quite big roaming bill. When arrived there was not even an excuse. We had booked family room which was nothing more than normal room with extra bed and almost no free space. At least it was clean. The breakfast was just a noodle soup - no choice. I remember at my previous stay there was choice of 3 dishes. When I asked for additional coffee they said only one is allowed. Before there was a free tuk-tuk service to the city (as the hotel is quite far from the center). This time they there was no such service. We agreed to pay 2$ for the tuk-tuk but when we came down to take it they looked outside and just said "Oh, there is no tuk-tuk driver now". I would definitely not recommend this hotel this time (unlike before). There are sure much better choices at competitive price in Siem Reap. To be honest on our request they compensated the pick-up with drop-off service after we asked for it. But till the last minute we were not sure we'll get it.

Comfortable beds, clean room, far from town center

cleanliness, free internet access
We did not receive our free pick up as advertised. Room is sufficiently large and clean but the hotel is located at somewhat off the town center and most tuk tuk drivers had difficulty looking for it. Breakfast is awful, staff speak minimal English and constantly look sad and not cheerful.

Great value!

Tuk-tuk service, varied breakfast, nice rooms
I think the Siem Reap Niche Hotel is great. I'll get the downsides out of the way. First, the hotel is not located in the downtown area of Siem Reap. There isn't much nearby, so if you're taking a tuk-tuk from downtown, the driver might not know where it is. The other downside is that it's a bit noisy. I can't imagine it's any more quiet downtown, though. Anyway, the first downside is negated by two things. One, it's only about a twenty-minute walk (albeit on a dusty road) to the downtown area. Two, the hotel provides a tuk-tuk service. A driver will pick you up at the airport, and he will likely be your driver for the duration of your stay. If you want to go to Angkor Wat, Tonle Sap, Banteay Srei, or any other place, you just arrange times and places with him. At the end of your stay, he'll tell the hotel where he took you, and they'll charge you the final price. There is a sign at the front desk listing the various prices for each trip, so you can check against that chart. The prices are good. Trips just into the downtown area are free (but you need to pay another driver to come back). Our driver, Mr. G, actually calculated our price before he told the hotel so that we'd be prepared in case of a discrepancy. The only thing that bummed me was that I couldn't tip Mr. G. It's against hotel policy, apparently, since he works for them and not as an individual driver. He's an awesome, super-friendly driver. Other great things about the hotel: The breakfast is delicious and features many different choices. The rooms are comfortable and cleaned. The maid even folded our towels in a different design each day. The Internet worked well and, from what I hear, it's faster than other hotels in Siem Reap, but I don't have anything for comparison. Finally, I should mention that we had a guest in our room, a gecko, but he pretty much stayed behind the curtains on the wall. Didn't bother us at all. Oh, and the water will come out cold initially. Just wait a few minutes.

Good midrange hotel for high season

Huge rooms and friendly staff
Had a good time at this hotel. We were a bit late booking something for Christmas in siem reap and ended up here. It was a good choice. The rooms were spotless and the staff really did go out of their way to help you. They were so friendly. The location isn't bad, you can walk to pub street in about 10-15 minutes or for a $1 tuk tuk ride. The included breakfast didn't have a lot of variation, I've definitely had much better. I think for the price there might be a few other places in town offering about the same price at a better location but in high season, and with limited options this place was fine for us and I'd recommend it. Also, others have mentioned a complimentary tuk tuk into town but this service was not available during our stay. If you want to see the temples of Angkor wat, you can get a tuk tuk driver off the street for much much cheaper than the hotel provides (almost half the price).

Good and Bad

Nice large room with nice TV
Hotel staff English was about 50% on dayshift and about 25% at night also when I asked about the free Tuk Tuk to town before 9pm I got told by the manager that was old internet and no free Tuk Tuk but did get picked up at the airport on time and most Tuk Tuk driver don't know the hotel but if you say KTV they know were to go, hotel had nice big room and the internet worked about 50% of the time. Hotel is on busy street so noisy in the morning and in the afternoon and their is a some type of metal factory next door to the hotel that also can be nosily from time to time. Do not go to the Happy Herd Pizza at 65 Mondul 1 Khum Svay Dangum unless you like cold over priced pizza and they did not know how to make an vodka and orange and I was with a Cambodian speaking person also don't go to the gun range outside of town as they are a rip off so go if you liked to be ripped off I can't speak for the towards the temples as didn't go. one last thing and that is the hot water takes about 5 mintue to come.
