Backapackers factory

Cheap and many hangout spots
It's terrible place with many backpackers and low quality standards. Kitchen its closed after 10pm. Reception always dissapear. Old beds without ladder. Dirty pillow. Pay for everything - low quality internet, all atractions (billard etc.), document about staying.

Unpleasant experience

Very cheap, central location, tidy washroom
Receptionist was away on my arrival and I had to wait for a long time to get the keys. Kitchen and even the dormitory was very untidy becase the rubbish was not removed regularly.

worst staff

the shower
When you have to start off your trip with a 4-and-a-half-hour wait and a 15-minute argument with the manager about what you thought you paid for and what your actually getting and he basically tells you it's none of his problem, you know it's gonna ruin your trip. don't do it. not worth it. unless you are travelling by yourself, i suggest you go to an actual hotel instead.

Decent area.. rough college dorm feel

my first hostel - didn't really know what to expect, but after staying at others, the best thing was the location in the city/proximity to downtown and parks
It was a little underwhelming - I stayed at others throughout New Zealand afterward and each was better than this one. There was definitively something rank about the basement area, the sheet and pillow quality were the worst I got in 9 hostels in NZ and it was on a slightly sketchy street. That being said - I slept that night and that was the point for me.
