sophisticated and best view of bangkok

knowledgeable staff/fun-filled facilities/best stay
+ free tuk tuk shuttle from Hotel to BTS (ONE WAY) + infinity pool/gym/ steam room/ sauna with light refreshments + choco workshop around 2000bt in the morning and evening session (adv booking of one day is req) + escorted by the hotel staff and stayed in the wood element room + greeted with our name on the TV screen and the staff was surprisingly considerate to have prepared the bed for slumber with shoes and water beside the bed + sophisticated designs found all around the hotel for cam-whoring - pricey breakfast, pricey stay

Comfortable stay with good value

Pool and gym, room comfort, price
I have stayed in a number of 5-star hotels in Bangkok before (W, Sofitel So, St Regis, Sukhothai). In terms of luxury, Sofitel So would rank below these names but the difference is not big. Price tag however is much more affordable at Sofitel So. Other main highlights are its pool and breakfast/lunch offerings. Will stay again.

5 Star staff and good location

High quality and very courteous staff; Great outlook over Lumpini park; Close to MRT station
For a supposed five star hotel I found some things quite disappointing. Meals were not up there in comparison to other similar graded hotels such as St. Regis or W hotels. I was served a sirloin steak which was cooked correctly, but was served stone cold, I placed my hand on it and there was no heat at all in the meat. The vegies were the same and the plate it was served on was stone cold. it took a heck of a long time to serve the meal in the first place. The buffet is probably adequate but not startling for the price paid. Now breakfast, funnily, my fried eggs were cooked and served on a sizzle plate that was very hot and the eggs were actually firmly attached to that pan, so much so that they broke when you tried to free them up and the bottom of the egg was quite brown. In the room it is not good for business people as the desk only has access to one power supply the other is next to the bed. You would think a hotel chain of this calibre would know what business people require. This is a four star hotel wanting to be a 5 star.

Six Star Staff - four star hotel

Staff - Staff - Staff
I was very impressed by the staff throughout the hotel. They were always extremely courteous and it seemed anywhere I went in the hotel, and I did not walk around that much, staff would call you by your name. That takes some skill because I noted they greeted all the guests by their names. The staff in the restaurant are so lovely and polite as well as providing excellent service to diners. The Concierge and team were equally great and I would certainly go back just for that friendly experience. First impressions of my room however were not that great. I was on the Earth floors, and my room was a dark blue and very cave like. It was a spacious room that is for certain however the lighting could not compensate for the darkness and neither could the large floor to ceiling window. Another disappointment was the fact that there is only one electric plug at the desk so it really does not cater for the business traveler at all. The tv is hooked up to a mac computer but it is so difficult and frustrating to use that I just about threw the remote through the window. The lift arrangement is a little strange and again frustrating. To get to your room from the ground floor, one must use one lift to go to the 9th floor then change there to another lift which is a walk around the block, to then go to your room. Food was disappointing. One evening I ordered a sirloin steak and when it was served I could rest my hand on it and struggled to feel any warmth in it despite it being cooked to medium rare. The grilled vegetables were likewise very luke warm and the plate they were served on felt like it came out of a refrigerator. Very disappointing for a restaurant at this level of hotel. At breakfast my fried eggs were served on a hot sizzle plate upon which they had been cooked. Though I asked for fried, i got grilled without any oil to at least grease the sizzle plate. As a consequence I literally had to scrape my eggs off the plate as they were stuck fast.

high class hotel, service us excellext

very good selection for the breakfast, staff service very excellect
I stay in this hotel second time, I upgrade my room to comfy room, they charge me extra 2600 thb 1 nite, but when I paid for it they charge me 11000 thb, then I talk to the manager, they give me the price 6200 thb finish all upgrade, I mean the 5 star hotel should know what they are doing, can't over charge the customer, the end manager say next time I visit thai and stay in their hotel, i will get automatically upgrade, no extra charge
