Top Location, Quality Hotel

Location, Staff Attentiveness, Value for Money
We always stay at the Sofitel, near to Martin Place Station and Circular Quay. Staff are friendly and helpful, the standard of rooms is fantastic. Recommend.

Poor service

Our stay was meant to be amazing! Unfortunately the room wasn't ready for 1.5 hrs post checkin time. Room was configured wrong and when asked for extras, had to do daily! When asked to speak to someone about it was told I would have to come and see the dirt manager the day of check out! Poor service. Feel this was because we booked through Agoda!

Average experience

The hotel is nowhere near the standard of its competitors in the area. A couple of issues - when paying the room deposit at checkin, a system error meant that three of my credit cards were reported as declined. Despite me showing the staff the amount was "pending" on my account (on my phone) I was refused access to the room while they sorted the issue and asked to wait in the bar, where the manager was to collect me when ready. After waiting 45 minutes with no sign of the manager, I went back to the counter to be told the issue had actually been sorted and they had forgotten to collect me. I was now running late for a meeting, which was added pressure I didn't need. The room was tiny and tired, with poor natural lighting and a bed that sagged in the corner. Overall an average experience I wouldn't care to repeat.

Are the rooms even soundproof?

Convenient location, friendly reception, not too expensive
I'm just going to list the problems I had with my stay in chronological order, and believe me, there were many. 1) The receptionist had no idea where the Wentworth Room was and pointed me to the restaurant instead 2) Housekeeping finally picked up the phone after about the 20th ring and had no idea what "slippers" we're 3) The shower SCREAMED non-stop every time I turned on the hot water 4) The shower was dripping throughout the night 5) MOST IMPORTANTLY, the room was not soundproof. I could hear every whisper, every knock, every footstep outside my door. 5 star? Really? Sofitel, I expected better.

Sofitel Wentworth

Location, location location
The only thing going for this hotel was its location. Easy to get around the CBD area and a short walk to the Opera House. Room was not cheap, service not fantastic. They also gave me what I think was a handicap room. The bathroom had hand rails to one side and there was no shower door. Concierge also gave me wrong directions. I was looking for a Vodafone shop one day as I had to top up my data on my pocket wifi. Asked for the nearest shop. When i got there it was an Optus shop instead of Vodafone.

Bit disappointed not a 5 star

Location. walk to lots of attractions
Booked room for 3 people. Had to ring up on day 1 as not enough towels or cups/glasses. Day 2 they didn't leave enough for 3 people. Very annoying. Ordered room service and there was an extra $4 on the bill for room service. I thought the prices reflected the cost. Ordered paper Sunday morning and it didn't come. No swimming pool does not make a 5 star hotel. Ate in the bar and it was very ordinary food. With the choice in Sydney I don't think we'll be back.
