1 stay at a double room, Oct 26, 2014

location, large room, kind staff
The hotel is quite nearby from the central and easy to access to transportation even it's around 10 min walking distance from the subway. It seems that staffs are kind and goods at English which felt me comfortable asking for their help, finding location or changing room. I booked a double room and when late check-in we're not allowed to get a standard double room. We must stay at the basement floor in an annex like to a hotel. we go into the enterance at the behind corner from the lobby through the small door and go down narrow corridor. The dark mood in these area give me scared and It feels like that I don't get a good service.

Very good, quiet hotel in the centre of Helsinki

Hotel suits for everyone else than luxury seekers
I spent two nights in this hotels and I enjoyed my stay very much. Staff was really very friendly and helpful. Checking in the hotel was quick and easy. My room was good quality although it wasn´t near to luxury. Beds were extra comfortable but the bathroom was a little bit poor. Bathroom floor was heated which is not something that you find from every hotel in Finland. I also visited sauna and even though it was really hot in the evening, it was clean and stylish. Breakfast was good and especially I enjoyed friendly faces and smiles there. Got a great kick for my day.
Restaurant Tip: There is amazing and affordable Japanese restaurant Koto just around the corner. Also it was great to have a grocery store across the street. Great pizzas near by in Denni´s. Also just one street away there is a shopping street called Fredrikinkatu. More small shops than in Aleksanterinkatu. Lots of authentic small bars in Iso Roobertinkatu.

Lovely hotel in beautiful helsinki

Comfort, breakfast, location
The hotel location, comfort and interior are the best things. The staff is very professional, friendly, helpful but not annoying. Beds are very soft and comfortable, all the furniture is new or kept very well, bathroom is clean and there's a warm floor, so you won't be frozen after a shower. The design is minimalistic and classic, very nice. There's a mini-bar as well. The breakfast buffet was very very tasty and the atmosphere in the restaurant is pleasant and relaxing. Highly recommended if you find a good deal price.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip: There's a Ruoholahti business district right away. You can see Nokia headquarters, some other IT offices and also there's good shopping in Ruoholahti shopping centre, just near the metro. Also check Kaapelitehdas (Cable factory) which is a huge arts and culture centre.

sokos aleksanteri

staff, friendly helpful and intelligent, multi language and lovely comfortable room
Helsinki is a lovely city to walk around and we felt very safe. we particularly enjoyed the design area around the hotel with the hip aspect of the cafes and shops. The old market is not to be missed for lunch at least once during your stay.
Shopping Tip: beautiful and fine hand knitted socks and gloves. not inexpensive but the quality is certainly worth it

Convenient and Classy

Quiet area, close to tram, grocery/atm across the street, quite rooms, good breakfast
Very nice room, high ceilings. Couldn't open the windows, but the AC worked just fine. Very quiet - I thought the hotel was empty until I went to breakfast. The grocery store across the street was very useful.
Restaurant Tip: Namaskaar Indian restaurant about 4 blocks away on Bulivardi towards the center was great for dinner, as is Salve at the end of the tram line, by the water.

New hotel in a prestigious location

Calm, spacious feel
Hadn't really seen this part of Helsinki before; it's a lovely location surrounded by leafy streets and around the corner from the pretty Alexander Theatre. Had a 3-month old baby with us and found this a family-friendly hotel. There were no queues to the reception or breakfast, and check-in/out was smooth. There was a special washbag for the baby and a toy in the room. Our standard room had enough space to accommodate the cot easily. I don't like air-conditioning on in the room and found the system difficult to use/switch off. This is an old building converted into a hotel quite recently, hence has a very clean and pristine feel. Decorated with muted colours with a calm and spacious atmosphere.
