South Beach

South Beach, also nicknamed SoBe, is busy day and night, with 150 clubs and other venues. Nightlife in South Beach is expensive, dynamic and ever-changing. Ocean Drive is a popular Spring Break and tourist area that houses funky, youthful boutiques and the world-famous Nikki Beach night spot. With the most well-known restaurants of South Florida, South Beach offers classic diners and cafeterias alongside fast food restaurants. The area is also home to many cultural, art and exhibition events, many of which are held at the Miami Beach Convention Center.

The Miami Beach Cultural Campus is known as the museum district, and includes the Miami City Ballet building, the Bass Museum, Miami Beach Regional Library and Collins Park. On the lifeguard-patrolled beach, food and drink concession stands abound, and beach chairs and umbrellas are for rent. When not people-watching, locals and visitors can enjoy walking trails, volleyball and watersports. Miami Beach Golf Club is also located nearby. Shopping expeditions are made to Lincoln Road Mall, an enormous open-air pedestrian mall home several night clubs. Nearby, the Collins Avenue Fashion District houses some of the world’s hippest designers.

South Beach, along with a handful of other neighborhoods in Miami, is one of the few places where a car-free lifestyle is commonplace. Many residents get around by foot, bicycle, motorcycle, bus or by taxi, as the neighborhood is very urban and pedestrian-friendly. The Venetian Causeway is a popular bicycle commuter route that connects South Beach to Downtown. The Airport-Beach Express (Route 150) bus line directly connects Miami International to major points in South Beach.
