With traditional Spanish architecture and French-inspired interior design, the 151 rooms in this building dating back to 1929 are a charming departure from typical. Thick oak doors leading to the hallways filled with classic art and antique furniture add to the overall ambiance of the traditionally-styled hotel. The location is second to none as it is located near several plazas and shopping areas, and the subway is right across the street. Be sure to unwind for a drink in the lobby bar where the glossy floor and bronze ornamentation are reminiscent of when Buenos Aires was considered the �Paris of Latin America.� A fair price and a central location make this out-of-the-ordinary stay a great consideration while staying in the busy city.

Location is excellent

Service, room size, bathrooms, staff attitude, breakfast

One of the worst hotels I've stayed in, and a long way short of 4-stars. The room was tiny, the bed uncomfortable, the bathroom was 1940s style and the breakfast they serve was a joke. The hotel is used for local tour operators and reception is constantly overwhelmed by the volume of people. I would rather stay in a youth hostel than stay here again!

Clean, nice people working there. Price was great!

sometimes wi-fi services worked, sometime not. Breakfast were chaotic. If you went at 9 am, there were no seats & not much food., nor were there enough plates and silverware. The could be a little more flexible with the check out time. Noon time would have been better.

Nice old hotel, quite charming really. The price as good and the hotel was clean. I would suggest that guests avoid the dining room. It is dingy and breakfasts were rather chaotic. The hotel seems to be understaffed for breakfast, and not enough space or equipment.

The hotel is a taste of old world charm with all the modern conveniences and centrally located in downtown Buenos Aires.

The spa could be embellished to include more than a sauna.

The Hotel Castelar, centrally located in Buenos'Aires Micro Center, is the perfect base for seeing the city. Complete with old world charm and decor, comfortable rooms with modern equipment, excellent service and a great buffet breakfast--all at an affordable price. Also centrally located for reaching Buenos Aires international and domestic airports. A choice pick by all standards!

Restaurant Tip : A wwonderful tapas cafe and bar is just next door to the hotel. REasonable prices and great food!
