Apa Hotel, Rio De Janeiro

When I arrived and got booked into the room every thing seemed ok. But after using the toilet I found that It would not flush I called the front desk and in less than 10 min the hotel had a maintenance person there and Fixed the problem. First rate service. Then the door to the balcony, the lock fell of and I could not lock the door, again I called the Front desk and This time, the maintenance person was there in less than 10 min. he installed a new lock and every thing was good. The breakfast at the hotel was very good, and the service was excellent.

My experience in Apa Hotel was very good. It is a small hotel but with an excellent service. There is always somebody at the door welcoming you in portuguese, and since I speak portuguese I always spent some time talking to them, and they enjoyed chatting with the guests, it was easier for me since I speak their language. Every mornig I asked for directions in the city and how to get there by local buses, they always helped me and not tried to convince me to take a taxi, as in other hotels I have been, saying that they don´t know the buses...Something I really liked is that starting the second day, at the front desk they always called me by my name, Mr. Jimenez, and when I had a problem with my room card key and I coudn´t open my room, they knew what my room was and work it out immediatelly. In the small dining room they have to serve the breakfast, the service was very good and the quality of the foods was good, every thing was fresh ans well prepared. Eventhough the rooms are small, they are confortable. I don´t need big hotels, but I need a friendly and nice environmet to relax and enjoy the visit, and this is something I really had at the Apa Hotel.
