In the heart of Ipanema and just 100 meters from the beach, Mar Ipanema Hotel is a great base for exploring Rio de Janeiro. The local neighborhood is colorful and friendly, with many sidewalk cafes and bars and the impressive Forum Ipanema shopping mall. Large, modern and comfortable rooms have great views over the ocean and are equipped with modern amenities including satellite TV and minibar. Professional staff are extremely helpful and friendly, even assisting with organizing sightseeing trips. The large restaurant has a great open terrace and serves delicious Brazilian and International dishes.

- 3 blocks to the Ipanema beach.
- Safe surrounding.
- Many choices of food.
- Internet is extra charge.
- No facilities.
- Breakfast is small in number, not many choices
I would consider this a 3 star hotel only because it has just the minimum facilities. However, the price it charged is of the 4 star hotel, a little expensive. I guess because it is located in a good Ipanema neighborhood. Other than that, it's just a so so hotel.
