I just love coming to this hotel - the hotel is big enough to feel big, but small enough that the crew are the same, and they know you every year you get back...
Only thing needing an upgrade is the internet, which still is to slow...

One block behind the hotel are shops were you can by sunscreen, water and grocery stores where you can buy bread, fresh produce, wine and beer. Rent a beach chair and umbrella all day for 15 Real. Get a cheaper ride to the airport by using the taxi stand to the left when leaving the front door of the hotel. Catch a nic view of Cocabana Beach from the 20th floor of the hotel.

Friendly hotel right on Copacabana Beach

I enjoyed the swimming pool on the top floor very much with a marvellous full seaview and a partial view of Corcovado.
Room was very clean, relatively large, and had a fantastic view of Copacabana Beach

nice Hotel
nice location right at Copacabana, efficient beach service but also very nice pool on the rooftop with great views, good breakfast buffet (I did not try the restaurant for lunch or dinner), stayed in a sideview room which was nice and clean

Hotels at Copacabana are all overpriced
but the Porto Bay offers rather good value for its price when compaired to other places.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
If you stay in Rio for a Sunday then pack your trainers for a run or casual walk along Copa and further to the end of Ipanema. The seaside lanes of Av. Atlantico are closed for traffic and millions of Cariocas are promenading. Great peoplewatching!

Great hotel
Nice, good-size and clean rooms; great views out of the window and off the balcony overlooking the beach; very helpful staff (plus everyone speaks English); convenient location right on the beach; and really good breakfast.

Restaurant Tip:
Check out the cafe one block up the street (walking away from the beach on your right) - the hotel staff wil tell you the name of the place. Great kebabs.

Great Hotel - Great Location
Right on Copacabana Beach, nice view of the beach.

When we first arrived at the hotel, my wife was unsure whether she wanted to stay there, since the carpeting was very worn. However, the front desk staff were very friendly and accommodating (the welcoming glass of champagne was a nice touch), and the room turned out to be clean, bright and comfortable. I'm used to being charged outrageous prices for internet access in Brazil, so the pay-by-the-minute option was appealing.
Breakfast buffet was filled with a great selection of fruit, meats, cheeses, and breads. We also ate dinner one evening, and the dinner buffet was equally appealing. Will definitely stay there again next time in Rio.
