Very close to the beach. Polite staff, always smiling. The food was great (caution for Americans.... The food was great Brazilian food). Hotel provides food menus in several languages including English.

Far from the city and shopping; but, not a problem for me as I had no desire for anything but the room and the beach.

There are two kinds of hotels in Brazil. There is the kind for Americans/Westerners and there are Brazilian Hotels. The first kind are for those who do not mind spending $300US a night and really do not desire to experience Brazil at ground level. The second type are the Brazilian Hotels. They are small and relatively inexpensive by US standards. The cost about as much as the Motel 6 but that is the only similarity. If you want to emerse yourself in Brazil, staying at a small Brazil Hotel is a great place to begin. Compared to other hotels I have visited in Brazil, the rooms were very spaciouse (still small by US standards) and had all the necessities. Most of all, I enjoyed the staff. The were kind and courtious and as is customary, when offered a tip, they would say "no no" but would accept it if it after I insisted. (One thing to note: tips are not expected and should be given when service is exceptional and appricated. Also given privately.) I would definately stay here again.

Restaurant Tip : At the hotel, food portions are large. It is best to order one dinner for two people and share.
