An excellent location in the city centre. very close to Moneda metro stop and therefore giving you good access to the city. Pretty spacious room with a balcony; nice and clean and comfortable with a good minibar. breakfast is perfectly acceptable and the staff are friendly and helpful.
this is a really good hotel and i would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting santiago (especially for the first time). its location is excellent, just up from the Moneda palace and metro stop and a stone's throw from the fantastic bar nacional and the plaza del armas etc making it easy to get to bellavista and pretty much everywhere by foot or by metro. the hotel is perfectly comfortable and probably deserving of more stars than the three it has (i have stayed in a lot worse 4 star hotels). i really liked this place and i would happily stay here again.
Travel tip : watch out for a taxi driver scam where you hand them a 10,000 peso note and they give you a 1,000 back saying "it's not enough", expecting you to give them another, and another etc. Make a point of showing them its a 10,000 when you give it to them or better still use smaller notes. the vast majority of taxi drivers are honest but there are a few sharks out there just like anywhere else. also, from the airport get a fixed-fare transvip taxi from the arrivals hall as it is simple and reduces the chances of being fleeced while jet-lagged.

The Panamericano is a 20 to 30 minute taxi ride from Santiago airport at a cost of US$25 or around 14,000 Chilean Pesos. Check in was quick and smooth and reception could always find someone who spoke reasonable English. Not too many restuarants nearby but we found an excellent bar only 4 minutes from the hotel, the National No. 1, that provided good inexpensive simple meals with house wine by the glass. Hotel arranged local tours with excellent bi-ligual guides who spoke excellent English.
