Grand Bolivar Hotel Lima Info

The Grand Bolivar Hotel has the distinction of being one of the hotels which accommodated Ernest Hemingway during his time in Lima. Built in the early 1920’s but recently renovated, the first sight upon arrival are the elegant glass dome ceiling and the grand staircase, which still contains lovely touches of bygone eras such as the parquet floors. Windows open to a magnificent view of the San Martin Square below. Built to receive foreign dignitaries, the hotel is now a Cultural Heritage site. Guests can enjoy their complimentary breakfasts at the hotel’s rooftop garden or take a nice morning dip in the nearby pool.

A lovely hotel still in the period - good service, attentative staff and all we could have hoped for - good breakfast and internet facilities and so convenient to all the places of interest near the Palace, Cathedral, shops etc.

Little to complain about - rooms are simple but clean and ample room - extra pillows were available when asked for - cable TV received BBC World News and CNN which was a bonus

I would highly recommend this lovely hotel - ideal position - good staff and all facilities that we needed - liked the easy walk to the Palace, Cathedral Museums, shops - very safe with many police on all streets - the hotel is still preserved in the 1920s era and we loved that - a nice ambiance and very comfortable - all amenities that we needed - I would not hesitate to recommend the Gran Bolivar and the price was excellent value - a great place to spend time whilst visiting LIMA, Peru.

Restaurant Tip : Excellent local restaurants serving the "locals" - we ate 3 course meals for as little as $1.50 per head - clean, delicious and very friendly, helpful people - the other end of the line was a Peruvian buffet lunch at San Antonios in Miraflores which was also very good but cost $55 per head!!

Good location, beautiful architecture, friendly staff.

The only thing this great hotel needs is some investment to modernize the rooms.

I enjoyed the greatness of this treasure in South America. I am interested in investing to see this hotel becoming the best in South America.
