Poor English skills, no support from the staff

Clean and quite comfortable
I chose this hotel because I read that the staff spoke English which is untrue. Only one person at the lobby spoke English but was not much encline to provide me any help requested. Same goes for the tour operator guy who refused to give me any information on how to go on my own to see the great Wall of China, pretending not to know (but did not try to!). Overall the staff was very cold, which I did not expect for a supposedly 4 stars hotel as the service quality should be important. Also had some noise problem in the evening and went to complain at the front desk but no one who spoke English was around to help me.

The room had no partition to washroom

The bell boy at the hotel was very honest and provided excellent customer service
Because the room which I stayed at no partition between the bedroom and washroom, my stay was very spoilt

Noisy hotel

Comfortable, cheap, nice bathroom.
Mediocre. It's potentially a nice place but the rooms on the ground floor and on the fourth floor next to the bar are so noisy it's impossible to relax. The staff were adequate but nobody helped me with my luggage and the noise level of their conversation in the foyer meant that the room was also noisy. The restaurant looked good but it closed too early for me to try it.

Spring Valley Hotel was barely an ok experiance

Location, Free Breakfast
My stay was ok at the Springs Valley Hotel. It is set inside a courtyard with two other buildings. I checked into the hotel and only one of the clerks spoke English, which was ok. I booked a Comfort Room which was totally the opposite of what I got. The photos are not accurate at all, lots of photoshop, lighting and magic. I was downgraded to a room that was double bed instead of King Size. The room was tiny and the carpet smelled of mold from too much steam cleaning that had not dried properly. My room was by the bar and you could hear the people partying away till 2am the nights I stayed there. The room was very dim, I had to take the shade of the lamp to see. The WIFI should be relabeled to LOFI, barely any connection, only time I got good decent connection is after 2 am, because everyone was asleep and not bogging down the bandwidth. Restaurant and Bar only accept cash, no VISA or MC. Breakfast was ok, nothing to write home about. I think I should have booked at the Holiday Inn or Sofitel.

Food & staff
The air conditioning was working. The room was so warm the entire stay. the bathroom lights were flickering while using the bathroom. There wasn't any proper wardrobe to hang clothes. However the staff were friendly and helpful. They offered to help us get a cab to go to the airport

lured by reviews

only location
Reviews are misleading. The staff do not speak or understand English. The rooms have no privacy, no door separate the toilet the bathroom and the room. You are in the open which is disgusting. I will not recommend this hotel if you want privacy.

Budget hotel that definitely needs an upgrade

Nothing special.
Don't trust the pictures posted in their website. Rooms are poorly lit, carpet is dirty (smells like mold), shower curtain is filthy. Restrooms have no doors and are made of glass walls, so no privacy at all. The refrigerator is just like a cooler. The aircon is much colder than the fridge!! Food for breakfast repeats every other day, actually... everyday. Though the hotel staff try their best to answer your needs and queries, language barrier is the biggest obstacles in staying here. Good thing they have an Ipad where you can type your message and translate your msg in Chinese. I wont really recommend this hotel to my friends, but if you will just stay there to sleep after a very tiring day of tour, then this hotel might just be the one you are looking for. Not for honeymooners!!
