Not what we expected

Very quiet location, small cozy room, friendly staff

The LOCATION - unless you want total silence and serenity, do not book here. The resort is located beach front but on the other (undeveloped) side of the island. There is no other nearby restaurant, resort, establishment, and public transport is not very accessible. In short, it's not along the main road, and about 1.5km away from the town and other beach resorts. Public transport is not easily accessible from this resort and you’ll end up spending more for transportation just to be able to go to town or other areas. TIP: get the mobile number of a tricycle driver so you could just ask him to pick you up. Next, the BEACH - since it's located in the undeveloped side of the island, the beach is not as clean; with washed up seaweeds, fallen coconut tree leaves, and etc along the shore. The good thing is - you have this stretch of white sand all to yourself. Now, the ROOM – it was small and cozy but just the right size for a couple. It had a quirky romantic interior with drapes on the bed. It had enough storage area and desks for our belongings. The restroom (which I am particular about) is also decent, clean, and looks new. The room also had a porch with seats and table. The RESTAURANT – menu is limited but tastes good. One meal would cost around P300 to P400 per person which is a bit expensive for local tourists like us. If you go to town, a meal would cost around P150 per person. The STAFF are friendly and they even let us hang out and drink til dawn at the restaurant with the lights on even if they close at 10pm. Overall, the resort is good for those who want privacy, serenity, and isolation. However, if you want a long stretch of clean white sand beach, restaurant/bar options, walking distance to establishments and tourist spots.. I suggest you just book from Kota Beach resort or Marlins or Anika.

A great place to relax

It was open for business and running like clockwork after the typhoon, attentive staff, good food.

If you are looking for a quiet restful place to stay, right on the beach, then St. Bernard's is the place for you. It is now completely normal after the typhoon, with everything up and running normally. The other visitors were international and very interesting to talk to. Birds mentioned in other reviews are out of the way and no problem whatsoever, but fun to observe in their cages. The owners and all the staff were attentive to our every needs. Stay there, you will enjoy it, as we did!

Quiet and beach view

Room design, restaurant, beach view

This hotel has a unique design and each room is original. The food in the restaurant is good especially the chicken noodle soup. The hotel is on the beach however it is a bit far from the town and beach area although you can always get a Pedi cab. We had to ask for our room to be cleaned and for towels and soap. Bird lovers will enjoy this place because the owner has a large collection of birds on the compound. If you are not a bird lover look elsewhere.

Recommended beach-front stay in Alice Beach!

close to nature, clean rooms, fast wi-fi

Highly recommended for a beach-front stay in Alice Beach, Bantayan! :) Rooms are relatively cheap for its location and make. Only downside is that it's not near any good restaurant, you'll have to walk a few meters to Anika for a broader menu. Tip for those who want to save on pasalubong: Buy danggit a few houses away from St. Bernard, and dried pusit in Hilantagaan Island (during island hopping) -- both at P150-P200/kg cheaper than the city price. :)
