Decent backpacker hostel

Lots of people to meet, nice pool, good location
7.3
This is definitely a party / backpacker hostel. People are always around to meet and hang out with. The location was perfect distance from town and ocean to rent a bike or moto and go around. Tons of good restaurants and shops around the place. Really enjoyed my stay.

Fun nights out

Location, breakfast, staff
7.3
The Sunflower is definitely a place if you want to party. It has a backpacker vibe but the private rooms are quiet. The breakfast had a great selection and the staff made sure you were kept happy. Not a place for families with young children, but a great place for people looking for fun.

A no frills, basic budget/backpacker guesthouse

Staff were friendly and helpful, breakfast buffet had a nice variety, easy tour booking
6.3
I would not stay here again nor would I recommend it to a friend. It wasn't a nightmare, it just wasn't great for what I was looking for. The location was a bit far from the main area even if you rent a bicycle. The room that I was put in smelled faintly like an open sewer line (even if its faint, it's too much). But other than that it was mostly clean (as clean as the old building allows) and the beds were comfortable. Generally this is more of a backpacker guesthouse/hostel and there are A LOT of people around all the time. So there you have it, if that's what you want, this place isn't too bad, but otherwise I would spend a little extra for something better.

Great staff

The shuttle bus into town was very useful, the staff were lovely, great choice for buffet breakfast
8.7
Stayed here as it was recommended by friends. Was not disappointed. When we arrived into Hanoi on the overnight bus, the sunflower shuttle was waiting to pick us up and take us straigt to hotel. Was checked in in minutes and shown to our room. Just what we needed after 18 hours on the bus! Staff were lovely and there was a big choice for breakfast.

Never again, worst hotel stay ever

Rats, rude staff, poor infrastructure
2.3
Glasses smashing out of doors, roofs collapsing during storms, it's not a safe hotel to stay in. We were very upset by our stay, staff are horrible, food is average and the location isn't great. If you are planning on getting tailoring in hoi an we are lead to believe the hotel recommend 'peace' for clothing as they receive commission from the shop,

Roof collapsed in our room

Poor infrastructure, rude unhelpful staff, loads of rats
2.3
Very uncomfortable stay, staff had the worst customer service skills we've ever came across, unwilling to help with damaged items in our room after our roof collapsed. The hotel will not accept a copy of your passport, they insist on taking your passport, I guess it's to hold you ransom in bad situations. Worst hotel stay ever, rats are everywhere.

Friendly and fun

Value for money, pool, breakfast included
7.7
We very much enjoyed staying at the Sunflower Hotel. Rooms, including bathrooms, were affordable, relatively modern and clean. The hotel offered a delicious breakfast daily and had a lovely swimming pool. There was a bar with nice food and great drinks. The staff were very friendly and attentive. Despite being called a hotel, it's more of a backpackers and has a great vibe for people in their 20s/30s travelling around and willing to meet new people.

Three nights in Hoi An

Clean comfortable room, friendly staff, great breakfast
9.7
Our room lovely, large, very clean, comfortable. breakfast buffet was great with freshly made omellettes and pancakes to order as well as a variety of other foods. Staff were very friendly and helpful. When we arrived we were told the hotel could be noisy and would we like to change from the room we had to one higher up that would be less noisy. We chose to stay in the room we had booked as it was higher standard than the one they were offering instead. I should add this is definitely a Backpackers Hotel and should only be advertised as that. We had not seen any mention of that on the site when we booked. The second night the noise was still going at 5 in the morning when we were leaving for a tour. Noisy backpackers, some only in underwear drinking etc yelling to each other just outside our room. Not good at all! Other two nights were fine. surely a noise curfew could be enforced at night!

Good value, more for young people and backpackers

Has a pool and lounges. Reasonable breakfast buffet, good value for money
6.3
Not being young people, we were the exception at the Sunflower. We had one of the nicer rooms which was great value and met our needs. The breakfast was fine for the price range. My only negative comment is that the hotel is full of backpackers who carried on all night, every night, slamming doors and yelling and screaming.

Friendly helpful staff in clean back packers

We enjoyed the area in which it is situated, the friendly helpful staff and the cleanliness.

We liked the Sunflower a lot. We bought personally made shoes just down the street, walked to the tourist area, and could easily have cycled to the beach if we had more time. The hotel is clean and the staff very helpful.
