Great location prone to blackouts

Location, rooftop cafe, view
Basic hotel but prone to blackouts - they have a generator but it will only power one light in your room which might be in the bathroom!! It makes being in a room with no fan very uncomfortable on hot summer nights! The staff were friendly and helpful. The location is right off the square - lots to see from the rooftop cafe or your window. Food was a standard western and Nepali menu.

good location but noisy

location, character, view from roof top
Rooms are very noisy, air-con is rubbish - frankly it was like an asthmatic pensioner, food not fab but view from roof top good

Good location

Centrally located. Close to shopping areas, restaurants
Hot water available all the time. Centrally located hotel, close to restaurants and shopping areas. Convenient and worth for money.

It was centrally located with a roof top restaurant. It provide a bottle of water
The WC was OK. The tap wasn't working so we had to wash our hands in the bath tub (the most worn-out we've ever seen). The big issue was the cleanliness or lack thereof; dust, dirty sheets and blanket; and we saw a cockroach walking from under the bed before we had time to even open our luggage. Went to the reception (at roof top) and asked if they could give us a cleaner room but they didn't have any. The staff didn't seem that motivated in cleaning the room either. It was so dirty that for the first time in years of travelling we actually went out to look for another hotel despite having pre-paid our stay. We quickly found much better options, and we took another hotel room nearby: cleaner (not difficult), with hot water at any time and cheaper! Went back to Sunny guest house to inform them that we were leaving and the front staff was actually pissed off! We pay full price in advance (and visibly too much, considering nearby offerings) for a room we do not use and vacate within an hour, we start killing cockroaches for you and rather than apologise for the dirtiness you still manage to have bad attitude...

Nice hotel located on the main square

Location, friendly staff, rooftop restaurant
The best thing was the location, right on the main square. Staff was friendly and rooftop restaurant gave a nice view over the square, the food was average but the breakfast was good.

Excellent centrally located choice.

Staff, location and price.
I stayed here for 4 nights at the end of a 3 month trip to Nepal. Very pleased with my choice. Excellent location and very attentive staff with good English. Great views from the rooftop restaurant. Noise from the front rooms can be an issue but I am a very heavy sleeper and found no problems. When I was awake I quite liked the bell tolls. You can ask for a room away from the main square but you also miss out on views. This is the price you pay for such a great location and I was happy. If you go to the viewing station near Nagarkot I would suggest walking back. About 4 to 5 hours on a really nice off the road trail (mostly) and with the opportunity to visit a temple about an hour from Bhaktapur. It is about 14 miles but is almost all gently downhill.

We enjoyed every moment of staying in this hotel.

The location-Staff-and the fact that the hotel had a generator
We had a great time in this hotel, the staff was friendly and they had a good restaurant in the roof top. Because of the shortage of the electricity, city of Bhaktapur is experiencing power turn offs during the day, this was the only hotel in the area with a generator.

poor accomandation

I booked this hotel because it was recommended by some travelling reviews, saying that it is near to one square. But the thing is the Bhaktapur city is so small that you don't need a centrally located hotel at all. The hotel has no aircon, no hot water when we tried to have a bath at 6pm, no electricity until 9 pm, uncomfortable beds, thin blankets, extremely small rooms, and slow wifi. The temperature in Bhaktapur in Dec is around 3/4 degrees at night, so we experienced a code night without shower, you know it.
