Over priced

Right in the middle of the mountains
OK for one night; food was poor, camp fire was fun for the children but overcharged for what it is. Also kid above 3 years old is considered adult so it's way too expensive for what offered The mountain hike was fun but too long for young children, took us almost 5 hours for what was estimated for 2 hours.

Great location

Location food
When we arrived we were shown to our tent. We did notice that the power point had blown out and that the heating had also blown out. When we asked staff if if would be cold as we had no power in our room. He said we could move tents or if we got cold they could get us more blankets. We asked to be moved, which they did. When we moved into our new tent not only did it have working power and also had spare blankets and a rug on the floor which our first tent did not have, We don't understand why they would put us In the first tent, as we were at that stage the only guests at the resort. Anyway we enjoyed the rest of our stay, and only needed the extra blankets not the heating. We didn't realise that both breakfast and the evening meal are included in our booking and the food was really good.

beautiful view

location, food, sunrise/sunset
We had no trouble finding the hotel even though it was not on my map, because the signage was good. The hotel is very remote, but has beautiful views of the sunset and sunrise and there is good hiking nearby. Wifi supposedly existed, but we were unable to connect. I could not get a phone signal, but on the road nearby I could get one. The food was excellent - there was not a menu, they just kept bringing us out lots of different dishes. There was more than enough food. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We were upgraded from a tent to a chalet. I was worried about the temperature being very cold in January at night, but there was a heater in the room and a lot of blankets, so it was fine.

Hotel right in the montains of Jebel Shams

Location, scenary, quietness
This hotel is located in altitude approximately 1h45 from Nizwa. Only the last few KM require a 4WD to reach the camp. It is around 15KM away from Jebel Shams canyon. Staff were kind to provide a chalet for the price of a tent which was appreciated considering how cold it gets at night in December. Dinner and breakfast is fine (for Omani standards), however do not expect any entertainment in the evening, it is not on offer. I would only regret that no particular sights are within walking distance of the camp.

Nice place with great view

Awesome view, big rooms, good 4x4 experience
We arrived here late in the evening. It was a challenging 4x4 ride from to road to the hotel as there are no street lights. We did not see the gorgeous view until the morning. It was amazing. Dinner was exceptional, breakfast was good too. The rooms were nice and big.

This is the second stay. Not as good as the first

Location on jebel shams, scenery.
Ok, but we were charged for wood for a fire this time. The food was ok, but very basic and the quality was not as good as last time we stayed here. The resort has a great view and a nice staff. The prices have increased and the service has not. It is still a good place to stay if you are on the mountain.

an amazing night at an extreme location

extremely quiet, close to the sky, sunrise
A stay to remember: ensure that you have a 4x4 with good ground clearance and some offroad practice as an incredible dirt route brought me up to the camp (the last 8-9 km were the tricky part, turn left when the road splits up for Sunrise Resort and J. S. Hights Resort), air temperature down to zero degree celsius (December!), the chalet bathroom could not be heated and had not electricity- but the remote location and the sunrise compensated for everything; very helpful resort manager!
