Comfortable, quiet stay in great location

location, size of room, great views from room
Having never been to Taipei before, we found the location of the Hotel great for getting around on the MRT, with the Xiaonanmen station only a five minute walk away, and also walking distance to the Ximending area, where there was lots of shopping, food outlets and people around. We had neglected to book a room for our first night's stay, and were able to get a triple at very short notice, which was fine for the one night. Large single beds were clean and comfortable, and the room was large enough for the three of us. We then had two rooms near each other (a twin and a double) on the same floor (12th) which were both facing the same view of Zhonghun street and a 180 degree cityscape view which was always interesting, day and night. Being on a main, busy road, the rooms were surprisingly quiet, and we found the staff friendly and willing to help with anything we needed. There were several very large groups staying over the weekend, and it seemed to be popular for local conferences or conventions. Our booking didn't include breakfast, but at $24 a person, we didn't take that option for the four mornings we were there, but thoroughly enjoyed strolling a short distance each morning to Yanping S Rd. where there were several coffee shops and small local restaurants to choose from. The restaurant seemed to be quite popular for dinner, but we chose to go to night markets (Raohe & Shilin) and eat from various street-food stalls. We made use of the gym upstairs, which had great views over the city. There were weights for my son to use, but not many other machines - a couple of treadmills/cross-trainers, and a couple for the chest and legs. Towels and bottled cold water were provided. We didn't use the spas on the rooftop, which were smaller than they'd appeared on the website. The views of the city were wonderful from the rooftop, but it was windy up there, and as the weather wasn't brilliant during our stay, we never went out there.

Good standard of hotel with helpful staff

Clean room, small but cute bar, helpful staff
Generally fine. Hotel is close (less than 5 minutes walk) to MRT station and that made it very convenient. Being vegetarian, choice of dishes at breakfast, and in bar, was limited and of variable standard. Staff, generally friendly and helpful, doing their best despite difficulties communicating in English. Room was well kept but bath is strictly for small children. Good, powerful shower, however, with a good range of toiletries. Hotel close to Carrefour which helped in making purchases for our picnics on days out!

a pleasant stay in taipei

spacious room, very clean, environment is peaceful
Spacious room which makes our stay very comfortable. There's a shelving below the TV to put our luggages and shoes which Makes the room look organize. Although it is about 10-15mins walk to ximending, we still like the location.

we love garden hotel!

spacious, clean, friendly staff
This is my second stay in this hotel. My first stay was 7 years ago. I was quite surprised that they maintain it very well. The room was clean and they have change their shower to rain shower. There's a metro station nearby just 5 mins walk. Location is still not bad. This hotel is always my first choice when I go Taipei.

a nice short stay in this hotel, near some attractive places in Taipei old town. Friendly staff but the food here is so so.

(not bad for the price)

service, room (especially bathroom which is spacious with powerful shower) and price
The hardware of the hotel is between 5* and 4*, especially the lobby design looks a bit dated. The location is far from where everything is going on (for that you need to be near Taipei 101). I booked this hotel only because it's the nearest 5* hotel to a Chinese school where my sons are learning mandarin. However, having said all that, I can't complain as the hotel is overall good value for money and the staff tries hard to please. I will stay there again if the price is still right.
