Excellent Location Up and coming hotel

Mix of large and medium size rooms heavenly beds
Our first impression was that we had arrived at Faulty Towers! but the relaxed family atmosphere warmed us to the place despite its excentricities, like serving poached eggs on a dry white crust of bread and intermittent lighting in the rooms.

Nice, but could be better

location, room size
excellent room size for our one night stay in glasgow. unfortunately our shower head was broken so could only be held. wifi, although only downstairs is very weak. breakfast was offered in the price but the receptionist was also the cook that morning so all quite disorganized. poor ventilation meant the dining room was soon full of smoke. late check out was appreciated. location for glasgow's west end eateries and attractions is great. though a bit of a risk for car parking. with a few tweaks and improvements this place would be a really nice stay for more than backpackers.
Restaurant Tip: Eat at the Ubiquitous Chip. Superb fare only 5mins walk from hotel.

the place is run down

The location is alright, I guess
the rooms are run down. my bed was lopsided and there were tears in the headboard upholstery. the curtains, carpet, sheets and towels were from the 80s. the tv was tiny, and there were only a couple of channels to choose from. the internet only works in the lobby and there are no places to sit there. my rooms smelled wet, there were floor to ceiling cracks in all but one of the walls, and it was quite cold in there. it also looks like they don't clean very well, as the carpet was pretty dirty, and don't even get me started on the dust accumulating on the corners. this is not to mention that when i "checked-in", they didn't have my reservation, and that the woman just threw the room keys at me and told me to go upstairs. i feel like i would have been better treated, and the accommodations would probably be better there, as well. long story short: stay away!
