Great Staff - But too expensive for the stay

The staff are all friendly, responsive and helpful!!! The neighborhood is in a beautiful part of town and having Central Park in such close proximity was a treat.
Noisy. The doors/walls are a thin and we could hear our neighbors coming and going as if they were in our room with us (we stayed in two different rooms and they were both noisy). There were no water bottles in our room (to buy from the mini-bar). A breakfast for one cost $50 and everything was very overcooked. One of the things I look forward to when I travel is to be able to use the room service - I don't mind paying, but the food has to be at least of standard quality. I found that it's worth going out to one of NYC's great little coffee shops to get better food for $12/ person. This hotel is known for it's celebrity guests, which, being from L.A., isn't usually something that would bother me. That being said, the place was crawling with security for international political guests staying there -- and being under constant observation while trying to work out at the hotel gym, or simply come and go was intrusive.

Carlyle Hotel NYC

Fabulous old fashioned NY hotel from another era with all mod cons, this old lady has a lot of class.
I loved the Carlyle, good location for shopping on Madison and for walking around Central Park, we had a spectacular view of the park and skyline from our window. The staff were great, old school polite and a little formal which I liked, white gloved elevator operators! The rooms were decorated beautifully in a traditional style.

Carlyle Hotel-NYC-October 1008

Service, Cafe Carlyle, Public Rooms/Lobby
The best and most hospitable service in NYC, equal to othjer great hotels worldwide. Everyone made sincere attempt to remeber our names and, without being over solicitous, constantly inquired as to our well-being and requests.

Amazing hotel!

Their shower! :) Location, services, food, staff.
Me and my friend came from Paris to spend 4 days in NYC just to walk around and shop so first we chose Carlyle for its great location. But after the first night we simply fell in love with this hotel. The room was excellent, service was perfect, staff very helpful and friendly. Great restaurant! The only things that were missing were the view and free internet but that was very well compensated by the rest. Can't wait to come back and try their new Spa!
