staff very obliging.breakfast well prepared and presented.clean .
Stayed for one night..It was a fairly comfortable stay..cost of extra bed was too high at $25....air condition room but no ceiling toiletries provided.. only 2 towels provided for 3 people. .very concerning was that from the balcony you can see the downstairs bathroom shower area. close to railway and a bit noisy when trains go past. staff very obliging and friendly.breakfast was good. Not too sure of value for money though

The worst place I've ever stayed

Minuses: 1.There is awfull smell of chemistry from the waredrob, so you can't put personal things and dress here. In all rooms! 2.Very wet and bad smell. If on the 1st floor you can live in some way -open the door for dry air outside, on the ground floor there is no way, because there's no sun and outside is also wet. When you wash your dress or things, they won't become dry. The floor is also wet all the time, ants everywhere. 3. On the ground floor there is no roof in the bathroom. In case of raining, all the water is in the bathroom. All the insects from outside are also there. 4. For 7 days we had our rooms cleaned only once. 5.Ocean is on the other side of Galle road, through the palm coconut forest. It's about 50-70 meters. To go to the ocean you need to go through this forest. Coconuts everywhere on the ground. It can fall from palm. From the other side in 10 metres is the railway. The trains go day and night. Very noisy. 6. No warm water in a hotel. Warm water was for 20 minutes when a host was in a hotel. 7. There is a man, who offers excursions. He stays here for sometime, speaks English and a little bit Russian. Besides excursions, he suggested to buy and cook jumbo prawns for us, for our money. In fact he bought ordinary prawns as in all the restaurants, not jumbo prawns. So, the price for it in market is much more cheaper. When we asked what is it -it is not what we talked and asked about, he pretended, he doesn't understand both languages -English and Russian.

In addition to my review

Pluses: 1. Early settlement. We came here at 5 a.m. 2. Not bad breakfast. 3. Man who drives tuk-tuk - he knows the roads well and gives good price. After that place we stayed in guest house. It was very basic, but in comparisson with this "hotel" it was great! Don't know how I can add pictures here, but I have all the pictures for confirmation of my feedback.

spent one of the best holiday their

luxary, clean, new design
I have spend two nights their and it was a great experience.Hotel have Four Luxury rooms and it was newly design and newly build ed. Hotel haven't got own retardant. But both sides they have Quality restaurants. One is one of the famous restaurants in Bentota Konwn as Escoffier. And the Other side restaurant with a pub. The Hotel serves very good breakfast. Their Sri Lankan breakfast very delicious. Hotel have very comfortable rooms with Wi Fi Hot water and very good king Size bed in the room. Staff was at tentative and can communicate well. It's one of best small hotels with all the facilities in the Bentota and if you are coming with the families you can it's better to book whole villa. Then you can use it as a Luxary Holiday Bungalow.

In between the highway and railway line

Proximity to the beach, proximity to the Turtle hatchery, proximity to Saman Villas
We weren't particularly happy with the Chalet. Our bedhead was 5 metres from the railway line which begun at 4.30 in the morning. The tv was poor, English standard was poor. The room was ok but the shower had an open roof which isn't smart in a mosquito area. Breakfast overlooking the highway was quite good. The beach opposite is nice. Strong waves. The turtle hatchery nearby allows you to release baby turtles for a fee which was great. Saman Villas nearby had some of the best food we've ever eaten for a decent prices also. The hotel opposite allows you to use their loungers and the food there is ok.

This is not a great place to stay...

Staff members were very nice. That's all... (except the manager)
This is NOT a good stay. * private beach ? Yes, if you cross the road and bring your own chair... ** luxury rooms ? I think the owner meant luxury basement... Finally, do NOT listen any of the manager advices. He found us a 300 rps tuktuk ride for going to town, which is a local price according to him. We paid 150 our way back... Same, a 1h boat trip in the mangrove would have cost us 35 dollars throught the manager, VS. 20 that we paid...

I didn't expect it's going to be that good!

Great food, delicate and attentive staff, perfect location
Fresh and big fruit plates, freshly made jiuces and attention to all the details made our stay there unforgettable. There were two minor disatvantages: the water pressure was not that strong and on the back side of the hotel there is a railway and from 6 am till 10 pm once an hour there is a train passing by.

Designer style let down by location.

Stylish design, confortable bed, great beach across the road
This is a lovely little hotel in a really bad location, saved from disaster by the fantastic beach across the road. Our tut tut driver didn't know where it was, so ask for the Warahena and it is across the road (looks a bit austere from the outside). The hotel has lots of style, with a large bedroom and nice bathroom, spoiled by the busy and noisy road at the front and the railway line literally running along the back of the building. The trains do stop around 10pm, but the traffic goes on all night, so it is not quiet at any time. The staff try very hard and could not be faulted for their attempts to do everything to help you. We did have a problem with the AC, which was not cold enough and we were unable to control. We had no hot water either, but the sheets and towels were very good quality. Breakfast was fine and served using lovely china. If you want a couple of days by a fantastic, quiet beach, stay here and go to the Warahena hotel across the road where you can use the sunbeds and beach bar and the staff are lovely (but the food is not so good). Or choose one of the small hotels on the beach side of the road, like the Mihin.

Clean, beautiful and a new room, very nice staff

comfortable bed, hot water, modern bathroom
I stayed at Chalet Bentota for four days. The staff are two boys, which are very friendly and helpful, even the owner. Condensed the Chalet Bentota is a new, comfortable and clean place. The bed is very comfortable, also the bathroom looks very good and modern and specially there's hot water available. I enjoyed the talkings with the owner and the staff very much. The only one disadvantage is the train on the backsite of the house and the mainroad in front. One more advantage is the distance to the sea. You cross only the road and after some steps you are on one of the most beautiful beaches of Sri Lanka - where you can see barely people.
