Not sure if Dusthole is the term I'd use, and it would be literal not a metaphor. The pub has a couple of large dogs that go where they want and generally they 'go' on the area of grass near the Cabins, it was covered in dog poo. The inside cleaning of the cabins was also pretty horrid, around all the edges of the room was a dusting of dead insects.

Lovely authentic hotel

Rustic charm, good food, big room
Stayed at the hotel for a few nights while working nearby. The warm welcome I received on arrival, despite being later that I'd planned, was accompanied by a great pint of local ale. Breakfast hit the spot and dinner was delicious. The room had a rather rustic feel about it, which did mean that it wasn't cleaned to the standard you would in a sleek modern hotel. However, that did nothing to take away from the comfort of my stay. Would definitely stay again.

we returned because we liked it so much in 2007

Old Worlde, close to High St, good cooked breakfast
we stayed in this hotel in 2007 and loved the old world charm, its close proximity to the high street and the cooked english breakfast. we returned in 2011 and were not disappointed. would stay there again.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip: We were interested to see if the High Street had benefited from the TV programme run on shopping trends in the High Street featuring Shepton Mallet. It appears not. The props the TV show used were not retained and there is very little to see left from that promotion and we were disappointed.
