Beautiful Keswick

Location, central Keswick Helpful & friendly staff The hotel owns 2 or 3 car parking spaces out back, which, if you were lucky (as we were) can save you money & leg work to the local car-parks
Some people may think the rooms dated. In fact they are, but in a nice way, in keeping with the history of the hotel which was one of the first coaching inns in the area. Quaint is a nicer word. Cleanliness abounds, clean dry towels, & all the soaps, shampoos etc anyone would need. The hotel is noted for its food, and booking a meal is essential every single day. (two couples were turned away while we were eating) but to be honest we found it good but not brilliant. If you want perfection try a restaurant called A DIFFERENT TASTE in adjoining Station Street. Its apple pie is to die for, probably the best we've ever tasted. Overall the George is a good all-round hotel & one we'll definitely come back to
Travel tip: There are many villages and towns nearby easily reached by car or bus, & we found one called Ambleside particularly interesting. Not unlike Keswick & with the same breathless scenery as a backdrop it affords a nice day's leisurely walk-around.
