About The Governors House Boutique Hotel Phnom Penh

Description

The Governors House Boutique Hotel Phnom Penh is a 4-star boutique hotel with more than 10 rooms in a rustic and colonial-styled mansion situated in the midst of Boeung Keng Kang I, a district well-known as the best residential area in downtown Phnom Penh, positioned only a 10-minute drive from the riverfront. The property was previously home to a politician and has blossomed into an old style architectural beauty, charmingly ornamented and sophisticatedly furnished with all original colonial antiques. Ornamented with European and Asian antiques that come from many periods, the hotel offers an ambience of serenity and tranquility. Boasting three stories in one Victorian-styled building, the enchanted hotel discovers inspiration from such gems as The Strand Hotel, The Raffles Grand d’Angkor Cambodia, or the Oriental Hotel while still maintaining its originality. The beautiful boutique hotel offers an outdoor pool, a restaurant offering breakfast, lunch, and dinner with both outdoor and indoor seating, free Wi-Fi, and balcony space to relax and enjoy the views.

True Boutique Classicly Classy in its simplicity.
I had to cut my stay short because of a personal issue - At moment of crisis I discovered these friendly professional staff that had suddenly switched to compassion mode ! The crisis was subdued can and contained and I felt safe! Thank you for that amazing act of genuine kindness and concern I will return to enjoy the ambience of your modern facilities set in a classic stylish heritage.

Lovely old house ... but needs attention
I had read about GH hotel in a travel magazine and was keen to explore for myself. Its location on Mao Tse Tung Bvd is convenient for access to BKK1 attractions, but I found it a little lacking in detail. The moody lighting in Room 1 / Spa was dramatic but not much use and I stumbled over the small step up to the bathroom area. The king-sized bed was two smaller beds pushed together and bedside reading lights were poor. I was glad I had with me my travelling reading light. There are unnecessary and space-taking curtains - faux four poster bed drapes - that were either tied in ugly knots or draped across the foot of the bed. The work desk was satisfactory ... but the only seats in the room were hard wooden stools - no armchairs. The outside shower area - very nice! - had a comfortable chair but it needs repairs as one strap supporting the seating slats was broken. Mosquitoes! But a staff member brought some spray to kill the beasties. Good mini bar, quite good dinner at the in-hotel restaurant. Good Internet. In-room safe was locked on arrival and I could not use it. There are lovely B&W photos displayed in public areas but there and in my room were lonely nails sticking out of walls where a photo or painting had been removed or sold. Having said all this - it was a nice enough little place but I would not hurry back.

Facilities & Comfort Lacking
Lobby and dining areas not air conditioned. In summer heat, it's very unpleasant to even have a coffee downstairs. Being cooped up in the aircon room is not ideal. Can't have a business or social dinner other than the pool side non-airconditioned area. Due to historic building nature, the toilets in room are not fully partitioned - imagine someone having a bad tummy taking a dump whilst you're in bed. Definitely lacking in infrastructure and amenities.

Excellent hotel
Fantastic food, great service and beautiful rooms
It was fantastic it a real oasis in amongst the chaos of the city. They should really promote their restaurant more as the food was superb and the service was impeccable.

Pamper yourself !
Service comfort decoration
The Belgium owner care about details and decoration as much as service and comfort is exquisite. A nice boutique hotel for few days relaxing stay in Phnom Penh. A bit overpriced though...but quality never comes cheap !

Charming, chic colonial boutique hotel
The combination of French and Khmer antiques; the friendliest staff, and the exquisite atmosphere.
I got the Superior room, and I should have splurged for a larger room, which apparently is more charming. The house, and its decor is stunning, and chic. The pool is small but cute. The staff is friendly and extremely helpful, but could be more knowledgable about other restaurants in that area. No complaints, only my tiny room, but would totally stay there again, in one of the larger suites.
