My new favorite hotel in Bali
I really loved The Grey's super cool and unique interior with minimalist industrial concept! The room and the bathroom was very spacious and the smart design made it seem even more spacious than it already is. The king sized bed and 4 pillows were very comfortable, aircon and hot showers were great. Staffs were efficient, friendly, helpful and accommodating. We got the front room right in front of the pool, which provided great view. However since we got the front room which is the closest to the reception and the road, the floor felt a bit sticky due to dust from outside although it has been swept clean before our arrival. I found out the other room that was not that close with the main road did not have this problem. The location is around 1.5 km from the beach but it would not be a problem if you have your own vehicles. It's very strategic if you want to explore other areas in Bali using your own vehicles because it's very close to the main roads. Definitely would love to stay here again and would recommend to all travelers!

extended, but a serious security problem appeared
I had one more night to spend befoe going to Ubud, and as moving with all my luggage is a nuisance, I extended at GreyBoutique. On my first day when leaving the hotel, the staff asked if they should clean my room and I replied that indeed they should and that they can do so after I would be going out 15 minutes later. When returning to the hotel at late afternoon, the room was not made up. I asked why and they said " we do not have a key so we could not ". I thought that must be a silly excuse for laziness, but then the next day when leaving my room I asked the front desk guy that I would really want my room to be cleaned and water replenished, and he told me I would have to leave my key as they had lost the master key. How lovely - so somebody not authorized is now owning the master key and can enter all rooms as he/she wants while the guests are out. This did not very much bother staff though. Nevermind, it was my last night there and I locked my things away in my case. But I doubt that I will return to stay here again

could be much nicer with some common sense applied
okay it was cheap and the location not too bad as I like the DewiSri area (with a nice and affordable LATTE at McDo just a stone throw away. My first impression was "wow, that is boutique indeed" when stepped into the room. though after a while I realized that as usual "boutique" means kinda odd and less practical for travelers. the rooms are huge with a "cement" interior. you walk in through the bathroom if your room is on the upper floor. there is a huge fridge and the sink is actually a kitchen sink outside of the bathroom. the mattress is placed on the elevated concrete floor just ten cm or so above the ground. very very dark is the only proper light is in the bathroom near the entrance. in the actual room there is virtually no proper bulb. forget about reading. no proper table or chair either, just some "retro style" stool and a tiny space to put some things (would not call that a table). there is a huge balcony which is actually nice, but again no chair or table whatsoever so you have a giant balcony that is entirely useless. The all-male young staff that performed receptionist as well as house-keeping activities were very "casual" and created rather a youth hostel atmosphere. they too were very noisy at night, playing cards with friends in the back office and shouting and yelling at very late hours. the price was cheap admittedly so one should not expect too much, but sad to see a place that could easily be soooooo much nicer with some common sense applied and more enthusiasm

Perfect choice.......
It was clean. Different style of room set up which i liked alot. Open bathe room.
Very friendly staff. Very clean. Tv worked perfect with lots of english channels. Nice room setup. Open bathe room was very nice. WiFi is so so. But well worth the price. Shower and toilet were very nice. Very clean the bathe room. Rented bike through them was helpful but got a v v v old bike and too expensive for what we got. Consider finding a bike else where. But over all loved the place. Loved the staffs. Well worth to stay. And sure we will come back.
